  • Friday 29th – Halloween Parade and Party – See below for details
  • Nov. 3rd-4th – Parent Teacher Conferences – See below for details
  • Nov. 5th – No School

HALLOWEEN PARTY – We will be having our Halloween Party on October 29th from 9:30ish to 11:20 (after the Halloween Parade). Third Grade is doing their party a little differently this year. Each class will be in charge of a game, craft, or art project. Our class was assigned a game. I am looking for 3 helpers to come and teach this art project to all of the 3rd grade classes. You would be rotating to each 3rd grade class over the course of the morning. This means that you would not be with our class the whole time. I have the game and all of the materials that you would need, so all you need to do is come play it with the students. I haven’t recieved any volunteers yet, so please send me an email or Bloomz message if you can help us out that day.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES – Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 3 and Thursday, November 4.  Please note: These will be early out days (1:00pm) and there will be no school on Friday (November 5). I look forward to meeting with you and your child to discuss their progress and goals. We will be meeting in-person in our classroom. If you prefer to hold your conference virtually, please indicate by answering the question that it asks when you sign up. Please sign up by clicking the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a054fa5ac2ca0fc1-fall

Math: Please remember to continue practicing multiplication facts with your third grader at home. You can find a cheap set of flash cards at the dollar store, you can print off your own online, or use index cards to create your own. No matter which flash cards you use, it is so important that your child has practice.

We will be starting lesson 9 this week. Below is the family letter from our math work book. On the second page of the letter, there is an activity to help students use place value to multiply. You are not required to do the activity, it’s just a suggestion if you’d like your child to practice at home.

ELA: This week we’re working on Unit 2 Week 2 in our Wonders book. Below is an outline of what we will be learning.

The week of October 4th

A HUGE THANK YOU for all the families that participated in our school fundraiser! The school earned so much money that will be used on the students. THANK YOU!

I have had some questions about tutoring after school! I have started tutoring a couple days a week. I will be sending emails on Sundays every week inviting certain students to after school tutoring. These might change every week depending on what we are learning and the needs of my students. If your child came last week doesn’t necessarily mean they will need tutoring this week, so please watch for those emails every Sunday. If you don’t receive any email then your child doesn’t need that extra help for math! Thanks!

Important Dates:

  • October 13th-15th – Fall Break
  • October 29th – Halloween Parade and Party – More details to come
  • Nov. 2nd-3rd – Parent Teacher Conferences
  • Nov. 5th – No School

APPLE WITCHES – A huge thank you for our parents who came and helped the 3rd graders carve their apple witch faces. The students have loved seeing their apples turn brown and start to decay. Thank you! In order to do the rest of this project I am going to need some help from you. We will be dressing our witches later in the month and the witches will need clothing. I will be sending home a letter and a pattern on how to create the dress for your child’s apple witch. This letter will come home this week. I have included picture of a completed apple witch to give you an idea of what the apple witches will look like when finished.

Math: Our 3rd grade class will start working on multiplication and we are so excited. This skill is very important for third graders to master. In order for your child to be successful with memorizing all of their multiplication facts they need to be practicing at home and flash cards are a great way to practice these facts. You can find a cheap set of flash cards at the dollar store, you can print off your own online, or use index cards to create your own. No matter which flash cards you use, it is so important that your child has practice.

We will be starting lesson 7 this week. Below is the family letter from our math work book that explains what we are doing in class on lesson 7. On the second page of the letter, there is an activity to help students with multiplying by 7, 8 and 9. You are not required to do the activity, it is just a suggestion if you would like your child to practice at home.

ELA – We finished up our Unit 1 last week and this week we will be reviewing the reading strategies, skills, and vocabulary words that we have learned.

WELCOME to 3rd Grade!!!

Hello! I hope that you are having a fantastic summer so far and are getting ready for an amazing school year.  I am so EXCITED to have your child in my class this year and I can’t wait to get started.  Back to School Night will be on August 16th and our first day of school will be on August 18th.  The first three days are are early out day with dismissal at 1:00.  I am looking forward to meeting all of you.  Here are a few things that you can do to get a jump start on the school year:

  • Blog:  Sign up to follow this blog.  This is on the right hand side of this page.  Once you enter your email in, you will receive an email asking you to verify you email address.  Please do this or you will not be following our class blog.
  • Bloomz Apps:  Use the following link for instructions to connect to our class using the Bloomz App.  I will use this throughout the year to communicate with parents along with the blog.  I use Bloomz a lot so please sign up for this amazing app!  – Bloomz App
  • Class Disclosure Statement: Read and sign the class disclosure statement. – Class Disclosure Statement
  • Parent Survey:  The following link is a short survey to help me get to know your child better.  Please take a few moments to fill it out. – Parent Survey
  • Supply List:  I am asking for money donations in the amount of $30.00 instead of you buying your child’s supplies.  This means that I do all the shopping, labeling and organizing.  Awesome, right? One less thing that you have to worry about.  However, this does not cover headphones.  Please send those in with your child on the first day of school.  You can click on the Parent Info Tab above, or click the link, to find out what your $30.00 will cover. – Supply Link
  • Food Permission Form: This is a blanket food permission form for the entire school year.  The food items on this list are ones that we have used regularly in the past for class parties and for math, science, and ELA lessons.  Please check all of the items that your child can have.  There is a box for substitution suggests if your child cannot have items on the list.  –Food Permission Form

One way that you can help your child over the summer is to READ!!! It is so important to have your child read every day for 20 minutes.

Our Last Week of School

I can’t not believe that this is our last weekly post for the year. I am blown away with how fast the year has gone by. We have survived a crazy school year and I am so amazed and proud with how each student handled this insane year. This year is definitely one for the books!

We have a fantastic and fun-filled week ahead of us. Please keep reading for all of the fun details.

Last Friday I sent home our tie dye t-shirts. If you have not washed them yet, please do so asap. Just rinse with water, cut off the rubber bands, wash and dry. Easy Peasy! I am excited to see how they all turned out. Please have your child wear their t-shirt to our field day.

Masks – The governor has lifted the mask mandate for the last week of school. Masks are now optional this week.

We have finished all of our end of level testing and the students did great. This week I will be sending home report cards, diagnostic results from i-Ready, and SEP forms. Please be on the look out for those items and let me know if you have any questions. I will also be sending home other odds and ends that students have collected throughout the year. Please make sure that they bring a backpack everyday.

FIELD DAY – Thank you for getting field day permission forms turned in. We are going to have a great day and I know that we are going to have a blast. Many parents commented that they could help bring supplies if needed. Well, it is needed. 🙂 Below is a link for items that the 3rd grade classes need in order to pull of our field day. Please sign up for whatever you can help us out with and send the items with your child on the day of our field day. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D4DADAB2CABF58-field
