April Reading Tracker Options

AT-HOME READING ASSIGNMENT OPTIONS  (Due on Monday, May 4th)

  • Option #1—Card Catalog Entry:  Read at least 200 pages per month.  It may just be one book that is at least 200 pages, or it may be two books that are each at least 100 pages.  After you have finished reading a book that you would recommend to others, complete an index card with the information listed below.  A sample index card will be available in the card box in the Library.

o  Front of Card:

    • Title
    • Author
    • Date Published
    • Date Read (Finished)
    • 2-3 sentences of plot summary
    • Genre

o  Back of Card:

    • 5-Star Rating (5=Want to buy it and read it again–0=Want to avoid it at all costs)
    • Book Critique (Why you would recommend it)
    • Student Initials
  • Option #2—Reading Tracker:  Read at home for 20 minutes, five days per week, and keep track of your reading on that month’s provided Reading Tracker.  Students are not required to read at home on days when school is not in session, but it is always encouraged!  Parents will verify their student’s reading by signing on the days their student has completed the reading.  Parents may also just check off the days their student reads and sign at the bottom of this page.  Finally, if students/parents prefer to keep track of reading electronically, parents will need to email me their student’s number of minutes read throughout the month.
