Fridays: Short but Essential

Fridays: Short but Essential
Parents,
Please be aware that Fridays are Assessment days in 2nd grade.  We work hard all week to prepare.  If students miss an assessment on Friday, they have to make it up the following week, usually by missing recess, library, STEM, or Coding.  These are the times that we, as teachers, are preparing.  If possible, please allow your child to attend the full day on Fridays so that we can keep everyone on track.  We do understand that, from time to time, a student will need to miss class and we are willing to get them caught up.  However, if it becomes a habit to miss Fridays, or leave early, it will affect the ability of your child to keep up.
Thanks for all you do,
2nd Grade Teachers

Class Store Volunteers

Hello!  We would like to start class store this week!  And we cannot make that happen without fabulous parent volunteers.  Our class is looking for 2 volunteers willing to run the class store on Thursday afternoons from 2:30 until the end of the day.  Until we get things rolling, it would be a good idea to start at 2:20pm.  Please let me know if you would like to be one of our class store volunteers.  We thank you in advance!

Dollar Dress Down tomorrow and Bloomz Sign up

Tomorrow is our first Dollar Dress down day!

I am also missing some parents from Bloomz.  Please remember that Bloomz is a great way to stay connected, not only to myself, but to their math and science teachers as well.  You can message and ask questions.  Please let me know if you have any questions by emailing me.

Please make sure…

Please make sure that you have signed up for Bloomz. We will be communicating mostly through Bloomz this year. Also, if you have disclosures, food permission forms, or child information sheets from back-to-school night, please make sure to send those back to school with your student.
Thanks,
Mrs. Zimm

First Day of School!

Parents,
Because tomorrow is the first day, you may walk your child to the classroom.  We will still be collecting school supplies as well.  Normally, students head outside until I come out to invite them in.  At the end of the day, students will exit out the east doors at the end of our hall.  From there, they will be dismissed to go to their designated meeting spots.  I know we will all have our first day jitters, so please email me if you have any concerns. I can’t wait to get started and look forward to getting to know each of your amazing children!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Zimm

Welcome to 2nd grade

imgres
Welcome to 2nd grade!  I am so excited to meet everyone!  I hope you have been having an amazing summer!

Our first week of school will be August 19-23.  These will all be short days.  Short days will now be dismissed at 1pm.

Please subscribe to my blog by clicking on the right and inputting your email address.  You will be sent a confirmation email.  You need to click the link on the confirmation email to complete your subscription.  Once this is complete, you will receive an email each time I update the blog.

We will have Back to School Night on August 16th from 5:30-7:30pm.  You may bring your classroom supplies that night.  The supply list is posted on my blog under Parent Info.  At Back to School night, you will be able to sign up for volunteer opportunities as well as for your student’s Star Student Week.  (Please refer to my disclosure for more information).

If your child was assigned to my class, they have the unique opportunity to have a team of 3 teachers supporting them this year.  I will be teaching the ELA block of the day.  Mrs. Woodrow and Mrs. Ezzell will be teaching the Math and Science block.  We are very excited for this opportunity.

Once again, I hope you are all having a fantastic summer and cannot wait to meet you all in August!
