Friday is a dollar dress down day.  Any students wanting to come to school out of uniform may bring a dollar with them.  Students either need to have one dollar or come to school in uniform.

For homework this week, we will not be doing the reading log.  Instead, I am sending home the information again for the dioramas.  I really need the agreement signed and sent back.  I have only received a few.  Homework will still be in the folders to complete this week.  However, reading time could be spent working on the diorama.  Remember, projects are due April 10th!  Please look for the yellow sheet that is being sent home today.

Dear Parents,
I need a little help finishing a small project that requires some hot glueing.  I know there are some parents who have wanted something to do from home and here is the perfect opportunity!  If you are interested, please stop by tomorrow morning and I will get you everything you need.

Wahoo!! Our field trip is almost here! Here are a few things you need to know and remember for this awesome day!
Students should wear RED uniform shirts with the other uniform clothing. 
If your child is not having a school lunch, PLEASE pack a disposable lunch for your child with their name on it. NO LUNCH BOXES. We want to be able to throw it all away after eating without carrying around stuff all day. 
Here is a list of students who I will have a school sack lunch for:  
(The following studetns will be charged for this even if your student shows up with a lunch.)

Everyone else should plan on bringing their own lunches. 

I have received chaperone agreements from the following chaperones:

**Please get those turned in to me ASAP!

We also need chaperones to bring a backpack to carry the lunches in.  All lunches should be disposable, so you will only be carrying them for the first part of the field trip.

We finished our math chapter on time.  Every single student was proficient!  They worked so hard and did such an amazing job!  We are now starting our chapter on measurement.
We are also working on our Animal unit.  If you have not yet signed and returned the information and rubric for the diorama project, please do that as soon as possible.  Refer back to my previous post about the animal unit.
Our field trip is Thursday of this week.  I am still waiting on a few chaperone agreements to come back.  I will post more information about our field trip this week.

March is our ANIMAL UNIT!  This is such a fun unit for the students.  We will finish studying animal classification and habitats and will choose our animals by the end of this week to research.  Each student will be choosing an animal and will complete two projects.  
1. Dioramas:
   Below is the link for the instructions and grading rubric we will be using for this assignment.  This project should be completed at home.  Once your child has chosen their animal to research, I will send home a rubric with their animal name written on it.
** Please sign the bottom and return so that I know you are aware of it. 
 Projects will be due on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. 
**We will have a open house on that day from 9:30-10:30 to show off their dioramas.

2. Research project
We will be doing research in class and creating a google slide. This will all be done in class! We will have the students present them in April and as we get closer I will inform you of the date and time your student will present their projects.

Because so many 2nd graders were able to master our last math assessment, administration has approved a FREE dress down day tomorrow for 2nd grade students.  And to make it even better…..they may wear pajamas!  Appropriate pajamas need to be worn.  If students would still like to donate, we will still be collecting dollars.

So sorry about the late post!  My blog was having issues and I was not able to post until just now.  The wonderful IT help tried to fix the issue as quickly as they could.

We are beginning a new science unit on ANIMALS.  We have also started a new chapter in math on TIME.  If you have an analog clock at home, please quiz your child.

Please make sure that you have turned in the permission slips for the field trip as well as the form for publishing our Student Treasures book!  I will be contacting chaperones this week about our field trip!
