Homework for Week October 26th-30th

1. Math Homework:
  • Monday/Tuesday Lesson(s): Are you ready Intro to Subtraction & Subtraction Stories
  • Wednesday Lessons 1 (review) 2:  Model Subtraction
  • Thursday Lesson 3: Subtraction Number Sentences
  • Complete every other problem (alternate between evens and odds) on the worksheets that will be coming home in the blue folder on Tuesdays October 27th.  Please check your child’s work for ACCURACY.
    *Practice your math facts (addition and subtraction) regularly by utilizing any of the math facts activities listed here: Math Facts Activities.
    Use VOCABULARY CARDS!!!  The kids need to be comfortable with what each word means and how to apply/demonstrate each math concept.
  • ALL HOMEWORK DUE BACK FRIDAY!!!!  SO WE CAN…..
  • PARTY ON FRIDAY

2.  High Frequency Spelling and Fluency Practice Homework:
High Frequency Words for this week are:

  6 POINTS POSSIBLE ON TEST (1 point for each correctly spelled word,  1 point for beginning the sentence with an uppercase letter, and 1 point for the correct punctuation mark at the end of the
sentence.)

Timed fluency practice worth 20 POINTS. For this week’s fluency page click here: Timed Fluency Practice
This daily one-minute timed fluency reading will help your student become a fluent reader.  It will also count toward your 20 reading minutes.  Time your student for one minute.  Record the number of words they were able to read in one minute.

Reading 20 minutes per day, There are several sources for reading:
  • “Reading for all Learners” also known as”Baggy books”  Which we  will  be starting next week, are from school,
  • Books from home or the public library and
  • Our online reading program Raz-Kids.  Our class Raz-Kids login is: dvella0 (That’s a zero at the end)
PLEASE  PLEASE PLEASE record ALL READING MINUTES on the reading log DAILY in  YOUR Student’s HOMEWORK FOLDER. 
PLEASE  PLEASE  PLEASE DO NOT KEEP YOUR STUDENT’S READING LOG AT HOME
BUT IN YOUR STUDENT’S HOMEWORK FOLDER
I check reading logs every Friday and record results in our grade book.

Students who’s
time isn’t recorded WILL RECEIVE  A  ZERO for that week.

Remember having your student read, and then record their 20 minutes daily (80 minutes/weekly) earns them a FREE PERSONAL PAN PIZZA from Pizza Hut. Who wouldn’t love that right?
