Error on permission slip :I

Sorry parents for any confusion.  I made a mistake on the permission slip I sent home with kids today about the upcoming field trip.  We are asking that the children pay a $6.00 donation at the front office.  The parents that would like to come and volunteer will need to pay the $5.00 admission at the door on the day of the play.  I hope that clears up any questions.  Here is the updated permission slip.  Childrens-Theatre-2

Upcoming Fieldtrip on February 4th :)

We have our first field trip on Thursday, February 4th to the Children’s Theatre in SLC and then we will go to the State Capitol to have lunch and take a tour.  We are super excited to  go on this field trip!  It’s my favorite one of the year!  Please read the permission slip attached in the post.  There are lots of little details that parents need to read.  Please sign and return the permission slip by Friday, January 29th for your child to attend the field trip. The permission slip also tells parents about volunteering to come with us!  We are also asking for a $6.00 donation from each child for the field trip.  This will cover the cost of the admission and a small portion of the bus.  Thanks so much for all your support.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Homework January 11-14th

Good Morning friends!  I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  I sure did…I was in dire need of rest after a busy week back to real life! This week we are back at it!  There are new WTW spelling groups starting this week.  Your children were given their new group numbers this week, so they know what group number they are in and what sort they were introduced to this morning.  Let me know if you have any questions about the new groups.
With math, I have taught all multiplication facts from 0-11.  I will teach the 12’s and the students can pass them off, but it is not a required fact that is included in their grade.  Students can continue to pass off multiplication facts until February 12th (Multiplication Madness Party), so keep studying at home!  We are starting area this week in math, so it will build on the facts we have been learning.

Monday-Sort words by indicated spelling pattern.
Group #1-yellow sort 19
Group #2-yellow sort 31
Group #3-yellow sort 31
Group #4-yellow sort 36
**I am aware that your child may have already done some of these sorts this year, but  they need to be placed into the correct sort group that they tested into.  This will be a good review for the students that may not have tested very well on those patterns.**

Good Morning and Happy New Year!!!  I hope everyone had a nice, long, and relaxing Christmas Break!!!  Mine was fabulous!  Let’s start 2016 great!!
We are finishing up learning about the last few multiplication facts this week: we will learn the 6’s, 7’s and 8’s.  Students will still be able to pass off multiplication facts up until February 14th (Multiplication Madness Party).  Next week, we will move on to area in math.

I thought we were going to be able to do the Words Their Way Spelling Inventory the last week of school before Christmas Break, but we were too busy and didn’t get around to it…oops!  Therefore, we will not do any WTW spelling sorts again this week.  I will be giving  the Spelling Inventory Monday of this week and we will be starting new sort groups next week.  I will let the students know the new groups they will be in starting next week.
We will have math homework and reading minutes every night this week.  Thanks so much  for all your hard work and support in 2015.  I promise you will see SO much growth in your children throughout January and February!!  IT’s awesome to see!

No WTW Spelling Sorts this week…we will be giving the Spelling Inventory again to see if any students need to move groups starting in the new year.  We will still have math and reading homework every night.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone! Please have a fun and safe holiday break!  WE will see you all back to school on Monday, January 4th! 🙂

Grinch Party & White Elephant Game!!!

I’m sure you’ve all heard about our Grinch focus this month. We are spending lots of time talking about kindness and showing love to others.  IT has been awesome to see the students work extra hard to be super caring. To wrap things up in December, we will be having our Grinch Party next Friday, December 18th (with the entire third grade).  We will watch the movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” together in the gym.  The students will be given sugar popcorn (colored green) during the party.  We will also be giving the students “Grinch Pills” at the party (green Sixlets). PLEASE DO NOT tell your child about the treats we are having so we can surprise them. 🙂 If you DO NOT want your child to eat the sugar popcorn or “pills”, please let me know.  December 18th is a Dollar Dress Down Day, and we thought it would be fun for the kids to dress up like a “Who” or the Grinch.  Let’s be creative and have some fun celebrating our hearts growing 3 TIMES this month.

In the afternoon on the 18th, we are going to play “The Wright Family” Christmas game.  So, I need every student to bring a White Elephant gift to school on December 18th.  This can be something funny you have lying around the house or you can go to the Dollar Tree to grab something.  Please DO NOT spend lots of money on this gift.  This gift should be something the students would like or be entertained with.  Be creative!  Please wrap this gift and bring it to school that day. Let me know if you need anything.  I have a few extra White Elephant gifts that I can let someone use if needed.  Thanks so much!

SAGE Interim Testing next week!!!

I hope everyone is having a great week!  WE are having SAGE Interim Math Testing next week on: Tuesday, December 8 from 2:00-3:00 and Friday, December 11th from 9:40-10:40.  Please make sure your children are here on those days, so they do not have to make-up their testing.  The SAGE Interim testing is giving us a baseline to show improvement from December to May.  This is the first time your children have seen this test.  It’s very good for them to get comfortable to the way the questions are asked and how t use the tools on the computer. Please contact me if you have any question.  Thanks for your support!
