Announcements:  We have a few field trips coming up in the spring we wanted to give you a heads-up about.  We are going to the Living Planet Aquarium in Draper on Friday, March 24th and the Clarke Planetarium in Salt Lake City on Friday, April 12th.  These will both be Front Runner field trips.  More info will be posted this week.

Reading
Of course, reading is the most important part of our homework! All of us should be reading 20 minutes a night, 5 nights a week. Please print off the Sort and Reading Log to record how many minutes your child read each night. Please sign and return it on Friday.

Math-We will be working on fractions throughout the next month.

Thank you to all the parents that came to help us yesterday during the Multipication Madness Celebration. Thanks also to the parents that donated all the ice cream and whipped cream from our class. The students had a blast and worked so hard for months to reach their goals. It’s always a great time celebrating our accomplishments!! Here are some pics from yesterday.

*I posted a few weeks ago about our spring Parent/Teacher Conferences we are having on February 21st (Tues.) and February 23rd (Thurs.) from 3:00-7:00 both nights. Please go back to that post and sign-up for a time that works best for your schedule. I’m excited to sit down with every student’s parents.

Multiplication Madness: Yay!  We are almost done passing off our multiplication facts!  The students have been working SO hard!  I’m so proud of them!  We have learned all of our multiplication facts 0-12. The students will have an opportunity daily to pass them off until this Tuesday, February 14th. Please continue to practice and drill these multiplication facts at home. Thanks for all the hard work!

Don’t forget to bring Valentine’s Day cards for all the students in our class on February 14th.  There are 26 kids in our class.  Please just have the students sign their name to all the cards and not address them to each student.  Thanks!

Here are the January poems just in case you need an extra copy sometime this month. Don’t forget each child needs to pass off one poem and complete one Great Brain Report for the month of January.

Tomorrow is a short day and a FREE Dress Down Day! Grinch party is tomorrow, so the kids can dress in their Grinch/Who attire.  Also, don’t forget to bring a wrapped white elephant gift. Thanks! Merry Christmas!

We are so excited for our first field trip of the year! We will be going to the Children’s Theatre and State Capitol in SLC for the day. It will be such a great time. Just a few reminders: *Please make sure your child is at school promptly by 8:25 because the buses will leave right at 8:30. *Your child needs to bring a backpack. It will hold their lunches, a water bottle and their jacket. Whether your child brings their lunch from home or gets a school lunch, they will be carrying it. *Students can bring books and/or games to play on the bus ride, but they will be responsible for it.  *The students need to wear comfortable shoes they can walk in for most of the day. *Students must wear full uniform on the field trip. I will pass out our class tie dyed shirts on Tuesday morning. They will wear them over their uniform shirts for the whole day. They will come home with your child on that day. We will ask your child to wear their shirts on all field trips. There will be other times we ask your child to wear it. I will always post on the blog when those times may be. *All parents that are coming with us need to carpool together. Please pay your $5.00 admission at the door of the Children’s Theatre as soon as you arrive. They won’t let the students enter until all parents have paid. Thanks so much for your willingness to come with us!
