Well, can you believe it?? January is almost over…!!!
That weekend flew by SO fast for me. I hope everyone got a nice little break.

Spelling: unit4week1
Math: We will continue on with area this week. We have already started passing off 0’s, 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s, 6’s, 9’s, 10’s and 11’s. This week we will focus on passing off 7’s and 8’s for Multiplication Mastery. Please be studying your math facts at home!!!

**REMINDER that Thursday is always Library Day. Please remember to bring your books back to change on this day.

I hope everyone had a nice, long, holiday weekend. It was great!!!

Spelling: Unit 3 week 5
Math: We will continue on with multiplication, and do division, and area as well. We have already started passing off 0’s, 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 5’s, 9’s, 10’s and 11’s. This week we will focus on passing off 4’s and 6’s for Multiplication Mastery. Please be studying your math facts at home!!!
**We will be doing a division hands on activity with Skittles this week. I will let the students eat the Skittles once we are done with the he activity. Please let me know if you DO NOT want your child to eat them.**

Week of January 3rd-5th

Happy New Year!!! 2018 is going to be fabulous!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! This was a nice, long break, and I hope everyone got to spend it with friends and family! I know I feel refreshed and ready for the second half of the school year!

Thank you so much for all the dog food donations we got in December for our service project! I was able to see the dogs and their owners on the day they received the dog food. They were so happy and thankful!! I have pictures I will show the students and post this week on the blog. 🙂

Spelling: Since it is a 3-day week, there isn’t a new spelling pattern and sort. We will start with a new pattern next week!

REMINDERS for Friday!!!

Don’t forget these things for Friday:

-December Poems need to be passed off, along with December Great Brain Reports need to be turned in for grades.
-It is Dollar Dress Down Day and the students can wear their favorite Grinch gear!!
-Every student needs to bring a wrapped White Elephant gift to school on Friday. Let me know if you need me to get a gift for your child.
-The Grinch party is Friday, and the students will get green sugar popcorn at the party. Please let me know if you do not want your child to eat the popcorn.

December 11th-15th

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Only ONE more week until Christmas Break..Before you know it, 2018 is going to be here!!! 🙂
Just a few reminders about the upcoming weeks:
-Please send any dog food for our third grade service project by Monday, December 11th.
-We are having a Grinch Party on Friday, December 15th and a White Elephant gift exchange party. Please send a wrapped $1 gift to take part in the activity. Please do not go out and buy something big and expensive. Wrap something that another student in our class would want for Christmas. It can be something gently used from your house or something around the price of $1.00. Let me know if you can’t provide a wrapped gift for the White Elephant gift exchange and I will have something ready for your child. For the Grinch Party, the students can dress up in the Grinch theme: Grinch, Cindy Lou, Grinch T-shirts, etc. It is a Dollar Dress Down Day, so be creative! We will also be serving green caramel corn during the Grinch Party while the kids are watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas. It should be a super fun day!!!

** NO SPELLING or story/vocabulary for the week!!**
For math, we are continuing multiplication. Look for a post I put on last week about the Multiplication Madness Mastery Celebration that we have started. Last week we passed off 0’s, 1’s and 2’s. This week we will pass off 5’s and 10’s. Please spend your winter break studying multiplication facts since there isn’t any homework.

Just a friendly reminder that we have Dollar Dress Down Day tomorrow to help support families here at Quest this Christmas. This will do some much to help them give their children a better Christmas this year. Thanks so much for all your support!!!

Multiplication Madness/Mastery Starting TODAY!!!

We are hitting multiplication really hard in math right now. Starting today (Tuesday, December 5th) we will begin Multiplication Madness/Mastery! Please start drilling and multiplying the multiplication facts with your children. The students are expected to drill their math facts at home as well as at school. The students have to pass off their 0’s to 10’s for a required grade. Every student will be given 10 problems to pass off in one minute. Multiplication facts are a huge part of the third grade math core curriculum. The students will have to spend time at home working on these facts in order to pass them off in the time table we have set. The students will have the opportunity to pass off their multiplication facts as many times as they can before the celebration (once a day). Our Multiplication Madness/Mastery Banana Split Celebration will take place on Wednesday, February 14th from 2:00-3:00.
**During Winter Break, students will need to spend time studying multiplication facts so they are prepared. Weekends are a great time to work on multiplication facts (since there is no homework).**

Each part of the Banana Split is one of the multiplication facts that needs to be passed off. You will get that part of the Banana Split ONLY if you pass off that actual fact.
0’s – Placemat
1’s- Napkin
2’s – Bowl
3’s – Spoon
4’s – Banana
5’s – Scoop of Strawberry Ice Cream
6’s – Scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream
7’s – Sprinkles
8’s – Strawberry topping
9’s – Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream
10’s – Chocolate Fudge topping
11’s – Whipped Cream
12’s – Cherry on Top!!!

Dog Food Coupon for Service Project!!

The LaRue family donated ($5 OFF) dog food coupons to the class. There are enough for each child to get one coupon. It is for dry or canned Hill’s Science Diet dog food that is sold at PetSmart. We would love for you to head to PetSmart if you can sometime before Monday, December 11th and use it if possible. Thank you so much for your willingness to donate to the homeless. Merry Christmas!!!
