Third Grade Dance Club

Our first 3rd grade club will be starting next week! We are going to be doing a dance club after school from 3:00-4:00 on Tuesdays for the next 6 weeks. We will be learning a few common dances and then we will have one routine that we will work on from week to week. We will either be performing it or we will record the finished dance and post it on the Quest Facebook page. The contract for the club is available here. —> dance-club-agreement-1

In order to be officially signed up for the club, this contract along, with the $10 fee (which will cover the club t-shirt and refreshments for the 6 weeks) will need to be turned into the office. We will operate on a first come, first serve basis. We will have approximately 20 student participants. Any questions can be directed to Miss Young at nyoung@questac.org

Homework for October 24th-

Homework

Reading
Of course, reading is the most important part of our homework! All of us should be reading 20 minutes a night, 5 nights a week. Please print off the Sort and Reading Log to record how many minutes your child read each night. Please sign and return it on Friday.

Math
Print off these math pages for subtraction review:

Spelling
This week the students will be working on long e sounds with the /ee/, /ea/ and /ay/ patterns again. The words are just a little bit longer, with the suffix /-ed/ added to the end, or compound words with that pattern.
Please print off this sort: 2-6-sheet1
The students will use this sort to practice the indicated patterns. Quest has asked us to have the students type their spelling word sort each night, but I haven’t trained the students yet, so they are just sorting them this week. They will be expected to type them in the next few weeks.

Monday-Sort words by indicated patterns ( /ee/, /ea/, and /oddballs/-all other patterns)
Tuesday-ABC Sort (Sort the words by initial letters.)
Wednesday- Speed Sort (Sort the words as quickly as they can.)
Thursday-Glue sort (Glue the words down in the indicated vowel pattern.)
**Please make a note on the Sort and Reading Log that a sort was done each night.**

Homework for October 17th-19th

First of all, thank you SO much to all the parents that helped us dress our witches last week!  They turned out so cute and the kids will love them for many years to come!  I will post some pictures of the witches and the dressing party on the blog.

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  Due to the fact that we have a short week for Fall Break, there will be not spelling word sort for homework.  We will skip spelling in the classroom also.  The students will need to read 20 minutes per night and complete two assignments (They are 3-digit subtraction assignments.) on Prodigy. Each assignment will take about 15 minutes per night.  Turn in the Daily Reading Log on Wednesday (10/19).  I hope everyone has a nice, long weekend over fall break.
**Reminders: Wednesday (10/19) is a short day with early out dismissal at 1:00. Just a reminder there will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday (10/20) and Friday (10/21) of this week!**

Halloween Party

It’s that time for Halloween Parties!! Yay! Quest has decided that our school’s Halloween Parade and class Halloween Parties will be on Friday, October 28th.  This is due to the fact that Halloween falls on a Monday this year, and we would prefer to start the week out a bit calmer.  The Halloween Parade will begin at 9:00 AM and will last about an hour. Students can wear their costumes to school that day. Parents are more than welcome to come to watch the parade of costumes that goes through both Q1 and Q2 buildings.  Most parents go to the Q2 gym and find a seat there.  The class Halloween Party will start around 10:15 and last until 11:30 (when the kids go to P.E. and lunch).  This day is an early out at 1:00, so the party will be pretty short.  I hope this answers all your questions.  Let me know if you need anything else.  Also, please me know if you would like to help the moms with the Halloween Party.  Thanks so much for everything!

Witch Dresses

REMINDER FOR TOMORROW!!! Please send any material (cut and prepared) in a baggie tomorrow that needs to be sewn over the weekend. If you are sewing your own Witch dresses, you can bring the dress (with other accessories) on Tuesday, October 18th. Remember we are dressing our witches on the afternoon of 10/18 at 1:30. We would love as much help as possible. Thanks so much for your support!

Homework for October 10th-14th

If you have not signed up for Bloomz, please do, it has already proven to be a very useful tool in communication with parents.
