First thing…The students did AWESOME today in the play! I was SO proud of them! YAY!!! You can tell that they worked really hard on everything! Thanks for all the support with the production!
A few things to remind you about for the last days of school: 1-The Elementary School (Q1) won the “Penny Wars” competition against the junior high. Therefore, we get a FREE Dress Down Day tomorrow, May 28th (Wed.). Sorry for the late notice. Teachers just found out after school. 2- We are in need of a few items for the 3rd Grade Celebration on Thursday. We would love some donations of: juice boxes (100% juice only) and chips. 3- Reminder that the students will have a Book Swap on Thursday. Please remember to send 2 books in good condition with your child on Thursday to swap with another student.
The Reading Log was due on Friday. I only received a few, but if parents want to email me or put a comment on the blog I will count it. I have to lock my grades in the computer no later than Monday (Memorial Day), so please get back to me before then. Have a great holiday weekend.
**Attention Parents** I was able to find some refrigerator boxes at Lowe’s in Riverdale. I do not have a truck to pick-them up with. Please let me know if any parents (with a truck) would be willing and able to go to the Lowe’s in Riverdale to pick them up for me within the next few days. Please let me know by email ASAP if so. Thanks so much for all you do to help us!
We are having a 3rd Grade Celebration on next Thursday, May 29th. Please look for the 3rd Grade Celebration Permission Slip coming home with your child today. Students need to wear the yellow Apple t-shirt they got on the field trip. We will be signing each other’s shirts during a portion of the day. Also, we will be having another Book Swap within the entire third grade. Every student needs to bring 2 books they’ve already read (in good condition) that they would like to trade for 2 new books. Please bring books that you feel like other students in 3rd grade would want to swap. Thanks so much for an awesome year!
Attention Parents: Our class play needs a backdrop to put up behind the students. We will be presenting our play in the Q1 gym and there isn’t a stage to hang a backdrop onto. I was wondering if any parents are willing to create one for the class?? I didn’t know if anyone had any ideas about how to make it stand up behind them or stay up on the brick walls. Please let me know if anyone is interested in helping. Thank you for all your help!
I hope everyone had an AMAZING weekend! Just wanted to let everyone know that we are officially done with homework. Please make sure that your children are still reading every night, and the Reading Log is still due on Friday. Also, please remind your children to study their May poems and complete their Great Brain Report for the month of May. Have a happy week!
We have planned one last minute field trip to see Rio 2 at the Megaplex Theatre at the Gateway in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, May 20th. We will be taking the Front Runner/TRAX again to save on busing costs. Students need to be dropped off at the Roy Front Runner Station at 8:15 a.m. and will need to be picked up at 2:47 p.m. Students will need to bring their own bag lunch and a water bottle in their backpacks. Students will also need to be dressed in uniform for the field trip (and wear name badge). Students will be provided a Sprite and popcorn for their movie snack. Students do not need any money for the day. Parents are more than welcome to attend on the field trip. Parents will need to pay for their own Front Runner tickets and movie tickets/concessions. The Megaplex is willing to give all parents the same price they are giving us: $5.50 admission. You MUST bring cash to pay for admission and concessions because the theatre will not be officially open. A permission slip is coming home today. Please sign and return tomorrow. Thanks!
End Of Level SAGE Math tests are this week: Tuesday and Wednesday (5/13 and 5/14). Please make sure your child gets lots of rest the night before and a good breakfast the day of the test. We will be reviewing fractions all week to practice for the test.
FYI: We are having a Dress Rehearsal on Wednesday, May 21st from 2:00-3:00 (Q1 gym) for the parents that can’t come to the actual play. It will not be the REAL thing, so don’t be surprised if it’s not perfection. 🙂 We are also in need of a few props for the day of the play. We need to borrow an old video camera that the “Cameraman” needs to hold during the play. We also need a stuffed groundhog, a letter O (maybe decorative made of wood, metal, etc.), old newspapers, a big yellow smiley face, a big bar of chocolate (I thought we could paint a piece of cardboard.), and lots of plaid clothing for costumes (shorts, shirts, scarves, hats, kilts). All students are responsible for their own costumes, so please try and find what you need. A parent told me that Children’s Place has all their 4th of July Red, White, and Blue plaid on sail right now. So check that out if you’d like and the DI probably has some good stuff.
