1st grade Disclosure
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the beginning of a new school year at Quest Academy! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with you and your child. I am looking forward to assisting your child in experiencing an exciting and rewarding academic year ahead.
Classroom Expectations:
To ensure a conducive learning environment, it is important for all students and parents/guardians to be familiar with and agree to follow the rules and guidelines outlined in the disclosure.
Class Rules:
- Listen when someone is talking.
- Follow directions promptly.
- Treat others with kindness and respect.
- Take care of our school and classroom.
- Be safe, kind, and honest.
Curriculum:
We will be diving into the new Common Core curriculum, focusing on foundational ideas, concepts, and skills for future learning. More information can be accessed at
Common Core Standards or through our class blog.
Take-Home Folder:
Please ensure your child returns the folder every Friday for updated information and reading materials.
Technology Integration:
Expect engaging, hands-on learning with minimal paperwork. Stay updated via the blog for classroom updates.
Communication:
Most communication will be digital, so please check the blog regularly.
Academic Focus:
- High-Frequency Words: 125 words to master.
- Math: Emphasis on Addition Fluency and I-ready Math.
- Reading: Daily reading practice and Wonders Language Arts program.
Projects:
Encourage independence in project completion to foster learning and a sense of accomplishment.
Discipline and Rewards:
Positive reinforcement through Gear Points for good behavior is encouraged.
Donations:
Voluntary supplies donations are appreciated. Information on needed supplies can be found on the class blog.
Availability:
I am available by appointment and via email for any questions or concerns. Email is the preferred mode of communication.
Birthdays and Celebrations:
Please coordinate with me for any birthday celebrations at school to avoid interruptions. Birthday invitations should be mailed to avoid hurt feelings. No food treats are allowed.
Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Conferences are scheduled on the school calendar as SEP’s.
Uniform Policy:
Ensure compliance with the school’s uniform policy to avoid any issues during cold weather.
Grading:
Informal and formal assessments will be conducted regularly. Results will be shared during parent-teacher conferences.
