Week of February 18th – 21st

I hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend.  Because it is a short week this week, we have a lot to get done in not much time.

A few announcements:
As we didn’t quite reach our Little Caesars goal, the fundraiser will be extended until Friday, February 28th.  For every three cards sold by elementary students, they will receive a prize. Dr. Dave and Mrs. Angelee introduced the prizes to the students today, and they seemed very excited to continue selling.  Students who had already sold three or more cards received them today. Students in the Jr. High will have their name entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card for every three cards sold. Also, the top three classes will win a pizza and ice cream party.
The Little Caesars Breadstick cards are $10 and gives you 10 bags of breadsticks and crazy sauce. These usually cost over $4. This gives you a savings of over $30. Quest makes $7 off of every card students sell. The money raised for this fundraiser helps with field trips, field day, after school clubs and other school activities. These cards make great gifts for neighbors, friends, and family members.

Here’s what your students will be working on this week:

Math:
We are finishing up our unit on fractions with dividing fractions in story problems.  Most of the students did very well last week with dividing unit fractions, now we are simply putting them into real life situations.

We are also working on using commas when writing a list.
For example:  I like to eat apples, oranges, and bananas.
Science:    We’re continuing our unit on Landforms, focusing this week on volcanoes and earthquakes.

Social Studies:

We’re going to be learning about the early exploration of the Americas.

Thanks Everyone!  Let’s have a great week!
