We have been challenged to a reading contest by Mrs. Chidester’s fourth grade class. They are confident that they can read more in the month of December than we can! I know that they have no idea what awesome readers our class has. Here are the reading rules Students must track the minutes they read every night. Log minutes online or on the log form on the blog under homework/reading. Students must track the number of pages read each night as well. Students must read a book that is at or above their grade level. I will trust parents to be the best judge of your child’s reading ability. However if you would like to look up the level you can go here. The contest begins Monday (December 3), and ends on Thursday, December 20th. Our goal is for each student to read at least 20 minutes a night. However, students who read more will be rewarded with prizes!!!! Technically the contest doesn’t start until Monday becasue we don’t give homework on weekends……however, ALL minutes in December will count! PS The administration has agreed to a special “reward” in the case that each class exceeds 15,000 minutes.
