Dr. Seuss Door

Help!
I seem to be saying that a lot lately, but here I am again asking for help!  We need to have a couple of people volunteer to decorate our door for the week of March 2nd, which is Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  We need the door decorated so it will be ready by March 2nd.  The door may be as creative as you please, with appeal to the kids and those around them.  The kids will be the ones voting for their favorite and it will win the Door Decorating Contest!  If you are interested, please let me know!

The Book Fair is Coming!

The Book Fair is coming up fast!  It will be open the first week of March.  Here are the hours.
 
Mon 3/2   8:00-3:30 (both fairs open all day)     
Tues 3/3   8:00-3:30 (jr high will be open before and after school)
Wed 3/4   8:00-3:30 (jr high will be open before and after school)
Thurs 3/5 8:00-3:30 (jr high will be open before and after school), 5:00-6:30 (elementary fair will be open during 4th grade wax museum)
 
Monday, March 2 will be our teacher preview day where our class will have the opportunity to go to the book fair during school hours. If your child would like to buy books then, they need to bring money on Monday.

Directions: Always keep the homework organizer in your homework folder. Each day place a check in the box when you finish your homework. Have a parent initial the column and bring back this sheet every day in your homework folder. 

Students are required to read 20 minutes a day. Please record reading time on the attached document. It needs to handed in every Friday. Reading Log

Word Sort Groups
Group 1– Josie, Bobbie, Ashlynn, Lorelei, Noah
Group 2 – Brody, Jesse, Hunter, Markus, Leonardo
Group 3 – Joe, James, Ellie, Taylor, Ayleen
Group 4 – Brogan, Landon, Kyle, Reese, Caden

Monday
Read for 20 minutes and record on reading log
SORT – ABC Sort – Have your child explain the sort rule to you and put their words in alphabetical order.
MATH – Fraction Shade – All

 Tuesday
Read for 20 minutes and record on reading log
SORT – Speed Sort
MATH – Chapter 10.5 – All
Chapter 10.5 Key

Wednesday
Read for 20 minutes and record on reading log
Sort – SORT- No Peeking Sort  – Read the sort words to your child aloud (without showing them) and have them write them under the correct rule column with the correct spelling.
Math – Fractions on a Number Line – All

Thursday
Read for 20 minutes and record on reading log
SORT – Glue Sort – Glue down the rules and the sorts that follow those rule
MATH –Chapter 10.6– All

Valentine’s Party

Our Valentine’s Party is tomorrow.  Many students asked for a sheet of the names of the students in our class.  We have 20 students and you can find all of the names on our homework blog post.  Also, students may bring a Valentine’s box if they choose. 
Thank you so much to the parents who brought items for our party.  From what I understand, we will have everything by tomorrow for our party to be a huge success.  Once again, thank you so much for supporting our class.

VALENTINE’S PARTY

We are going to have an amazing Valentine’s Day party on February 13th!!!! We will be playing minute to win it games and passing out Valentines. Each student will need to bring 20 Valentines to pass out to classmates.  We also need some supplies before the big day so if you can bring something that would be wonderful!

We need:
-20 boxes of conversation hearts
-2 or 3 packages of candy corn (red, white, and pink ones)
-chocolate kisses
-Valentines plain M&Ms
-Twizzlers
-20 heart shaped sugar cookies (they have to be store bought)
-Pink or white frosting
Sprinkles

P.S. Let me know if you would like to come in and help! The party will be from 1:30- 3:00 on Friday.
