Math – Practice Multiplication Facts for 15 minutes

Read for 20 minutes and record on reading log
SORT – Glue Sort – Glue down the rules and the sorts that follow those rule
MATH –Chapter 10.1 – All

Valentine’s Day

It’s that time again, the time where I ask for volunteers for a class party! :) So far we are going to pass out Valentine’s and put on a couple of Just Dance videos on from YouTube. Anything else is extra. If you would like to come and do an activity or craft let me know. We can also have food on that as long as I know before hand.

Students who want to bring Valentines need to bring one for everyone in our class. We have 20 students (no one likes to be left out!). If they want to give a select number to other students in other classes that is fine with me.

***SAGE TESTING INFORMATION***

This year, we have to administer the SAGE Writing Assessment earlier in February.  (The SAGE Language Arts and Math Assessments will be given in May.) We have been working really hard at school on writing informative and opinion pieces to prepare.  This is all pretty new to our class because we’ve never taken the end of year test before third grade.  
FYI: Our SAGE Writing Test sessions are on next Tuesday, February 3rd and Thursday, February 5th.  Please make sure your child has a nice big, healthy breakfast with lots of sleep!  


I will be sending home another permission slip tomorrow (I know, another one…) for chewing peppermint gum during SAGE Testing. Studies show that the peppermint calms the students and helps them focus during long tests. Please read and return the permission slip with your child before next Tuesday, February 3rd.  Any donations of peppermint chewing gum would be greatly appreciated as well.  Thanks for all your help and support!

Class News

Hi Students and Parents,
On Friday we have our dollar dress down day.  If your child dresses down, please make sure that they bring a dollar.  Also, the students have earned a Free Time Friday.  This means that they get to bring a toy, or something else, to do during our class free time.  
On a different note, if you have not filled out the field trip permission form, or the food permission form, please do so.

Change in math homework for the week.

We are a day off on our math homework.  I was hoping that we could get caught up today, but that did not happen.  So for tonight the students should do Monday nights homework.  On Wednesday students should do homework Ch. 9.2 (problems 1-7) and Thursday, homework Ch. 9.3 (odds).  Please continue to do the sorts and read every night for, at least, twenty minutes.  Remember to please record the reading minutes on the reading log.  If feel to email me with any questions or concerns. Math Homework for tonight!

Dear Parents and Students,
During math today the students and I were only able to get to our vocabulary.  This means that there will be no math homework tonight.  If your child would like to do the math, feel free to have he/she do it.  We will hopefully get back on track for tomorrow and the homework will be assigned as scheduled.  If not, I will let you know what homework I would like your student to do.  Thanks for all of the support!!

Field Trip Permission Form

Please print off permission slip for our field trip on the 10th of February.  Please sign and return the permission slip by February 5th.  Please pay $5.00 admission to the front office ASAP.  Brody Hansen paid $10.00 at the beginning of the year for field trips, so you do not need to pay the $5.00.  Thanks so much.
Please let me know if any parents would like to attend no later than Feb.5th.  Please be aware that no siblings will be allowed on this field trip.
