Ch. 3 in our math program teaches students different addition strategies to help them learn their addition facts fluently (which is crucial for future math!) We will practice these strategies in class, but it’s always beneficial to get extra practice at home. Keeping a set of flash cards in the car is a great place to run through them each day for 5 minutes even. I’ve attached this homemade set (part 1) as a resource you may print off if you’d like or a set from the dollar store works great too (just pull out the cards that match a particular strategy). In time, when we’ve had plenty of practice with these strategies, I’ll send a flyer home with information for your child to practice their math facts on an internet program called Xtra Math.
