Homework (December 14-18)

Homework this week is due on Thursday, December 17 (Due to the holiday celebrations we are requesting that you turn in homework on THURSDAY)

1- Math Homework:  
*Complete every other problem (alternate between evens and odds) on the worksheets that will be coming home in the blue folder on Monday.  Please check your child’s work for ACCURACY.
*Practice your math facts (addition and subtraction) regularly by utilizing any of the math facts activities listed here: Math Facts Activities
*NEW*!  As part of your Math Facts Activities Homework, include practice of your Addition Strategies Flash Cards.  
*Parents-please initial the “Math Homework” verification sheet attached to the worksheets and turn in on Thursday.

  
2- Reading 20 minutes per day, record on reading log on our Weekly Homework form.  There are several sources for reading: “Reading for all Learners” also known as”Buddy books” from school, books from home or the public library and our online reading program Raz-Kids.  Our class Raz-Kids login is: hills1


Reading minutes can also include books from the category list for the library “Tower of Book Challenge”.  For more details on this challenge click here:  Tower of Book Challenge

3- **NEW** Raz-Kids reading assessments.  Students have been assigned a reading assessment on the Raz-Kids online reading program.  All reading assessments are due to be completed by Friday, December 18. Once logged on students will select “Flight Check” to begin their reading assessment.  Raz-Kids.  Our class Raz-Kids login is: hills1

We like to read.

SPELLING SENTENCE  6 POINTS POSSIBLE ON TEST (1 point for each correctly spelled word,  1 point for beginning the sentence with an uppercase letter, and 1 point for the correct punctuation mark at the end of the sentence.)

Hint: “read” can be sorted with the short or long vowels depending on which meaning you use
**This is an assessment week for this group** If they get 90% or higher they will move to a new sort section, if not they will repeat this sort section or portions of it again.
 

**Note: Many cards are pictures, please encourage your child to spell as much of the word as they can. Pictures are used so the students will listen to the letter sounds rather than just look for the letter that matches their header.

**Some guide words have a C or V combination on them – C stands for consonant and V stands for vowel.
