Homework (February 29-March 4)

Homework this week is due on Friday, March 4:

1- Math Homework:
*Complete every other problem (alternate between evens and odds) on the worksheets.  Please check your child’s work for ACCURACY.
*Practice your math facts (addition and subtraction) regularly by utilizing any of the math facts activities listed here: Math Facts Activities
*REMEMBER*!  As part of your Math Facts Activities Homework, include practice of your Addition Strategies Flash Cards
Helpful Hint:  Place the timed test your child is working on in a plastic sheet protector and use a dry-erase marker to practice over and over.  The goal is to finish 25 problems in 1 minute and 30 seconds, with 90% accuracy (23 out of 25 problems correct).  To print the timed test click here: Timings-ALL
*Parents-please initial the “Math Homework” verification sheet attached to the worksheets and turn in on Friday.

SORT GROUPS:
RED group (short & long u): Kylee, Kendall, Mason, Kolby, Koby, Boston, Emma, Samantha, Izabella
ODDBALL: put

YELLOW group (ck, ke, k): Macie, Jed, Aiden, Peyton, Devon, Evelyne
Hintall the words ending in -ck have short vowel sounds, the words ending with -ke have long vowel sounds, and the words ending in -k have vowel sounds that are neither long nor short.  Students benefit from blind sorting these words so they rely on listening to the sound of the vowel and not just looking at the letter patterns.
**This is an assessment week for this group** If they get 90% or higher they will move to a new sort section, if not they will repeat this sort section or portions of it again.
ORANGE group (short & long o): Abigail, Kaleb, Brittany, Jak, Alex
ODDBALL word: love, one
GREEN group
(short & long e): Alexandria, Brooklyn, Riley
ODDBALL word: great
Hint: “lead” can be sorted with the short or long vowels depending on which meaning you use
BLUE group
(er, ear, eer): Tristen, Colter
ODDBALL word: here, there

**Some guide words have a C or V combination on them – C stands for consonant and V stands for vowel.
