We had the privilege of having University of Utah’s Red Butte Garden Education Program come into our 1st grade classrooms this week and help us start our grow lab experience.  We planted and will watch our Brassica Rapa plants grow and complete their life cycle.  We’ve dissected a lima bean to observe the parts of a seed and sprouted a mung bean so far.  You might ask your child some of the following to see if they can remember what we’ve talked about:

1. What does a botanist study?
2. What’s a baby plant called?
3. What three things does a seed need to wake up (germinate)?
