Look at these super scientists and their great observation skills! Students sorted soil into different categories. They found small rocks, dirt and lots of organic matter like worms, grass and roots.
We also discovered that the minerals in soil will separate by different sizes and weight when you add water to the soil and shake it well. After settling, you can see the layers of rocks, sand, silt and clay (plus some floating organic matter like twigs and worms!) Ask your child if they can remember all the things that make up soil. When you really think about it, soil is life giving and amazing!
