Dioramas: Each student will create an animal diorama using a shoebox or a box no larger than a small laptop. Your child has already selected their animal and started to do some research. Please help them gather supplies to bring to school on Wednesday, November 13. We will work on the dioramas on Thursday & Friday of that week. The students will then display them on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 2:20-3:00. Parents are welcome to attend this event.  Volunteers: I would love to have some help as we create the dioramas. Please email me if you could assist any of these days and times: Thursday, Nov. 14 from 2:30 – 3:00 or Friday, Nov. 15 from 12:30 – 1:00. Thank you for your cooperation in making this a fun and educational experience for our students!

Reading Passages (optional, but highly encouraged!!) :Stories go home each Friday. Encourage your child to read them to you (3 times), sign it, and send it back with them. They get class money for this!

**Please read with your child. Make it enjoyable and fun. You can even read to them and then ask them questions!! 20 minutes a day is a great goal.  Your child should be bringing home decodables each Friday in their black folders. These stories can be read and returned for class money. If they read them 3 times out loud with you, please sign it and have them bring it back. It is so important to read every day and ask fact finding questions from the story to develop your student’s comprehension; this is key to meeting the end of the year benchmark goals for 2nd grade.
