  • Week of April 28 – Testing starts

Reading Passages (optional, but highly encouraged!!):Stories go home each Friday. Encourage your child to read them to you (3 times), sign it, and send it back with them. They get class money for this!

**End of Year testing starts the week of April 28 (3 weeks away!). Please read with your child. Make it enjoyable and fun. 20 minutes a day is a great goal.  Make sure they are reading out loud!! Your child should be bringing home decodable stories each Friday in their black folders. These stories are great to read again and again. The words will become automatic, so when your child sees them in another text, they won’t have to stop and sound them out. It is so important to read every day and ask fact finding questions from the story to develop your student’s comprehension; this is key to meeting the end of the year benchmark goals for 2nd grade.
