Happy New Year!!!! I hope you all had a fantastic winter break. I know I did, but I am excited to get back and see all of my students!

Video Permission: I will be doing video lesson recording that is required for me to obtain extended licensing. Will you please fill out the google form whether it is ok or not to see your child in the videos I obtain for my licensing requirements?

I need all parents to have these e-signed by Friday, Jan. 08. Thank you!

Announcements:  For the next couple of weeks, we will be conducting our mid-year reading test. We will also be completing our i-ready math and reading diagnostic as well. Please make sure your child is reading every night (at least 5 minutes out loud), getting enough sleep, and having breakfast. I’m excited to see their growth from the first of the year. We will go over the results at parent teacher conferences, which are the first week of February.

Reading in Class

  • The essential question is: “How does weather affect us?
  • Comprehension Skill: Author’s Purpose
  • We will be focusing on the spellings for long e: (e, ea, ie, y, ey, e_e.) in our spelling words: we, bee, need, queen, mean, leaf, thief, chief, pony, keys Review: grow, toe, after, every, special
  • Our Vocabulary words are: damage, dangerous, destroy, event, harsh, prevent, warning, weather
  • Math in Class
  • We will be learning how to use different strategies to subtract 3-digit numbers with regrouping.

Reading Homework (optional, but highly encouraged!!) 

*Students are welcome to read their decodables from class. If they read it 3 times with you, please sign it and have them bring it back for class money. *
Please, please, please read with your child. Make it enjoyable and fun. You can even read to them!! 20 minutes a day is a great goal.
