Welcome!!

Hello soon to be 2nd graders! I hope you all are having an awesome summer! I am excited to meet you in August! Here is some information that might be helpful until then.

Back to School Night will be held on Monday, August 14thfrom 6-8 pm. Presentations will be given every 30 minutes starting at 6:00 pm, with the final session beginning at 7:30 pm. Our classroom is room 118.

The First Day of School is Wednesday, August 16th. The first three days (August 16-18) are early out days with dismissal at 1:10 pm.

Here are a few things you can do now to prepare:

  1. Please subscribe to my blog by clicking on the icon to the right and inputting your email address. (If you’re on a phone, it will be at the very bottom.)
  2. Parents and students, please read through the Class Disclosure  together and sign the form Class Disclosure e-Signature .
  3. Parents, please consider paying a class supply donation of $35 here: Online Payments,  marking “Other” and typing “Snitker Supplies.” You can also pay in the Q1 Office. Please do so on or before Back to School Night and I will take care of all the shopping, labeling, and organizing of class supplies.
  4. Fill out the   Yearly Food Permission Slip

Additionally, students will need to bring the following items on the first day of school:

  • Headphones or earbuds–labeled with the student’s name. Parents will be responsible to replace broken or damaged headphones/earbuds throughout the year. We use headphones multiple times throughout the day in the classroom. Please try to find the highest-quality headphones possible.
  • A backpack (standard-sized). Please do not purchase the smaller-sized backpacks, as your student will be frustrated at not being able to fit books and papers neatly inside.
  • Water bottle–Student may bring a small, closable water bottle with their name on it. Water Only! Water bottles help so much, because the student doesn’t have to leave the classroom just to get a drink.

The $35 class supply donation will provide each student with the following supplies that will be used daily.

  • Fabric Pencil pouch
  • 12 sharpened pencils *the Ticonderoga pencils are best
  • 2 large pink erasers and pencil top erasers
  • 6 black ink fine tip Expo markers
  • 1 magic eraser
  • 3 poly folders with pockets and prongs (different colors)
  • 1-wide ruled notebook
  • 1-writing journal
  • 1-3 ring binder
  • 4-6 glue sticks
  • 1 pair scissors (kids safety scissors)
  • 1 box of 24 Crayola crayons-washable
  • 1 box Crayola colored pencils
  • 3 red ball point pens
  • 2 yellow highlighters
  • For the classroom: tissues, zipLoc bags (sandwich, quart, and gallon size), hand sanitizer, clorox wipes, paper towels, and band-aids.

If you would rather purchase these items yourself, please send me an email prior to school beginning and I can give you specific colors for the folders and notebook.

Please note, these are the only supplies allowed. I do not allow other items to be in their desks, especially personal pencil sharpeners. Anything not on this list will be sent home.

Additional donations for field trips and class parties may be requested as their respective dates approach.

Notice: The items on this list will be used during the regular school day. They may be brought from home on a voluntary basis, otherwise, they will be furnished by the school.

Please email me with any questions or concerns you may have. We’re going to have an incredible year!

Remote Learning 2/23/23

As many of you are aware, there are winter warnings and advisories about today’s and tomorrow’s winter storm. The recommendation has been to avoid commuting or traveling tomorrow morning, as the roads are predicted to be unsafe. Due to these advisories and the distance many of our families and employees travel to attend Quest, students will be learning from home tomorrow. In the jr. high, students will access assignments and other learning resources via their Google classrooms—it is not necessary to login to Google Meet. Students are welcome to email teachers with any questions they have regarding their posted assignments. Elementary students have learning packets that were sent home previously to provide learning from home in these situations. However, please watch for additional resources to come home today with Q1 students. Their teachers will be contacting you shortly via their blogs or email.

Please note that we will watch conditions closely over the next couple of days to determine student learning on Thursday (late start, learning from home, regular school day, etc.). Thanks so much for all you do. We hope your families stay safe!

**Please pull out your student’s REMOTE DAY PACKET that we sent home earlier this year and work on it tomorrow and/or Thursday. As well as the paperwork that we sent home today. Make sure they have a total of 30 minutes in Lexia by Wednesday and 45 minutes by Thursday. iReady math they should have a total of 24 minutes by Wednesday and 35 minutes minutes on Thursday **if we end up with a remote learning day on Thursday as well.

They may also get a green light in Reflex. They also brought home their decodable stories that they can find the ‘cow’ sound words and read the story 3 times.

*Please email me or send me a message on bloomz if you have any questions. I will be checking it often*
