Announcements:  Valentines Party: If you haven’t already, please fill out the Valentine google form, https://forms.gle/dKP5NyQy5Xb5Z9k58 . Students without a permission slip will be given an alternative activity. We have 26 students. Please do not write who the Valentines are to, just have your child write that they are from them. That will make the process much smoother when handing them out. We will be decorating bags in class for the Valentines. (Please do NOT bring a Valentines box). We will also be decorating sugar cookies. The permission slip for this was signed at the beginning of the year.

Reading at home: **Your student brings home 2 decodables and 2 stories from our ELA quizzes each Friday. These stories can be read and returned for class money. If they read it 3 times out loud with you, please sign it and have them bring it back. *

Reading in Class

  • Comprehension Skill: Identify the Theme
  • We will introduce words with /îr/ eer, ere, ear in our spelling words: deer, cheers, steer, here, jeer, near, ear, dear, clear, spear Review: store, north, again, house, inside

  • We are working on 2-step word problems and learning how to visualize the story to decide if we are adding or subtracting in each step. We will test this standard on Thursday.

Announcements: Sign-ups for parent teacher conference are posted on Bloomz. Please sign-up for a time if you haven’t already.

On Friday, we will be making instruments out of trash. Please remind your student to look for the materials they will need to complete this project.

School breakfasts AND lunches are still FREE (for students) and will remain free until the end of the school year!

Announcements: Students are finishing up their mid-year testing this week. We will go over the results at parent teacher conferences, which are the first week of February. Sign-ups for parent teacher conference will be posted by this Wednesday, 1/13.

Happy New Year!!!! I hope you all had a fantastic winter break. I know I did, but I am excited to get back and see all of my students!

Video Permission: I will be doing video lesson recording that is required for me to obtain extended licensing. Will you please fill out the google form whether it is ok or not to see your child in the videos I obtain for my licensing requirements?

Announcements:  For the next couple of weeks, we will be conducting our mid-year reading test. We will also be completing our i-ready math and reading diagnostic as well. Please make sure your child is reading every night (at least 5 minutes out loud), getting enough sleep, and having breakfast. I’m excited to see their growth from the first of the year. We will go over the results at parent teacher conferences, which are the first week of February.

  • We will be working on word problems for the next couple of weeks. Word problems can be hard for students because it requires comprehension to understand if we are subtracting or adding. Please watch for a family letter to come home that will help you incorporate this skill in their real life. Create stories that include adding or subtracting and see if they can come up with the answers.

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful day showing off our dioramas and making balloons for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. I hope you all have a fun, relaxing, and safe break. Thank you for sharing your children with me. We laugh and learn everyday, and I am very grateful for each and every one of them!
