Fall Break

Teaching: Mrs. Alexander

Important Dates:

Monday: Regular school day
Tuesday: Alexa and Xander Birthday!
Wednesday: STEM Lab, Short day, regular uniform required (no spirit T-shirts)
Thursday: NO SCHOOL
Friday: NO SCHOOL

I’m truly amazed by how quickly time has flown by! Wednesday is officially the end of the first quarter and we have covered so much content. We have reviewed and strengthened foundational skills along with covering new information. We’ve had some great fun, too!
A very big THANK YOU to all of you for your help with the Apple Witches. Everyone’s contribution of fabric, dresses, hats and mittens, brooms and time resulted in some seriously awesome creations! To those who helped during the dressing of the witches, another THANKS.

Below is the permission form for the snacks we will be having during our Halloween Party. Please fill this out, and be sure to include your name at the bottom of the form.

Beautiful weather is in the forecast and even though we have an abbreviated week, we will be covering lots of ground.

READING:
This week our reading will center around the strategy of re-reading for comprehension and text evidence, and we will be working to identify the author’s point of view. Please continue to read for at least 20 minutes per night. There will be no at-home reading response, as we will be learning to write book recommendations in class, based on the book your child is reading at home.

MATH:
In Math, we will be completing our unit on subtraction. This week we will learn the subtraction algorithm, subtracting across zeros, and using inverse operations to check work. Prodigy is updated to include the subtraction!

Everyone has worked hard for these first 9 weeks of school. We hope that the Fall Break allows everyone time to rest and relax!
Work hard. Be kind.
