Thanks to all our wonderful parents who made our visit to Black Island Farms fantastic.  We couldn’t have done it without you!  

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on October 15 (3:30-8:00), October 16 (3:30-8:00), and October 17 (1:30-4:00).  The sign up sheets can be found outside of my classroom.  If none of these times works for you, please let me know and I will see if I can arrange a different time when we can meet.

Some exciting news just came my way!  Our class will be visited by an real beekeeper sometime during the first week of October.  We are very excited to learn how bees work in their hives and how honeycomb is made.  If your child is allergic to bees, please let me know and I can make sure that they are in another class during the visit.  I have been told that it is impossible for the bees to excape the box that they will be in 🙂  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

This year, all 2nd graders are doing 200 Read/Write/Spell words.  These words are high frequency words that the students will see often and need to be able to read, spell, and use correctly in a sentence.  Starting this week, your child will bring home an index card on Monday (approximately ever y2 weeks) of the words they need to learn for the week.  Your child needs to practice spelling these words and needs to be able to create a sentence with the word used correctly.  This is in addition to their Words Their Way words.
