What we’re learning this week
Good morning! It’s the 2nd week of school and we are in learning full swing! This week we are going over our long vowel sounds, practicing 2 digit addition (to 100), learning the difference between statements and questions, and doing great work discussing characters. We have also been doing lots of assessments and are about 1/2 way through. Remember to bring your homework back on Friday in the red folder.

Weekly Homework
Homework will start next week (August 27, 2012). The homework will be posted in the tab marked “Homework” . Please print it out and send it back to school, in the red folder, on Friday. Also, every Monday your child will be bringing home an additional list of 5 spelling words that they need to be able to read/use in an sentence/spell by the end of the school year. Please work with your child on all their spelling words. Thank you so much!

Just a reminder:
Good afternoon! I wanted to remind you that I still have 7 kiddos who haven’t returned their parent handbook form. Without this, your child will not be able to check out library books or use computers. Also, I have 8 parents who have not signed the parent/student disclosure. I will be sending all of these home on Friday. Please sign and return them so your child can do all the fun things that we do 🙂

Back to School Night update for my class only
Back to School Night is scheduled for
August 16th from 5:30-8:00. There are 3 parts to Back to
School Night:- Meet the Teacher, Meet the Administrators, and Update
SIS. This year, my family will be hosting a Foreign Exchange student
from France. He is arriving on August 16th at 8:15pm.
Because of my needing to pick him up at the airport, I will only be
available at Back to School Night from 5:30-6:30. I would love to
meet all my new students and their parents from 5:30-6:30 if
possible. Once you have finished “Meet the Teacher”, you may
continue on to the “Administrator Meeting” and the “SIS Update”
meetings.
I understand that some families may not
be able to make my 5:30-6:30 scheduled time and I apologize for that.
I will be in my classroom on August 14th from 10:00-1:00
pm if you would like to meet with me then. You would still need to
go to the 2 other meetings on August 16th so that your
student may be entered into the drawing for wonderful prizes. Those
families that meet with me on the 14th will be given a
card showing that they have met with me and they can turn that card
in with the card that they will receive on August 16th.
Remember that it is important that you attend all 3 meetings for your
child to be entered into the prize drawing.
Again, I apologize for the change of
schedule but look forward to either meeting you on August 16th
from 5:30-6:30 or on August 14th from 10:00-1:00.
It’s going to be a fantastic year and I
look forward to meeting all of you!

Back to School Night
Welcome to a new school year! I look forward to meeting all my wonderful students and their parents at Back to School Night on August 16th. Come see what your classroom will look like and meet your classmates. You can even bring your school supplies if you have them. Parents, please write your child’s name on all of their supplies. The school supply list can be found at the top of my blog. I will be collecting most of the supplies on the first day of school and storing them in bins and buckets. Having your child’s name on the supplies makes this a lot easier 🙂
See you on August 16th!
