Week of December 13th-17th

Upcoming Events:

  • Wednesday, December 15: pajama day
  • Thursday, December 16: Discovery Gateway in-class “field trip”
  • Friday, December 17: Class Winter Party, for your child to be able to have any treats at our party you need to fill out a permission form linked HERE
  • December 18-January 2: Winter Break- No School

Weekly Reminders:

Tuesday: Library books are due! Please make sure your child’s library book is in their backpack. Send take-home folders to school (yellow for AM and green for PM). Please review contents of folder when returned.
Friday: Short day schedule and FREE dress down day or wear an ugly sweater.

Here’s a quick overview of new things we will learn this week:

Big Idea for Unit 4: “What do you know about the people and places in our neighborhood?”

Comprehension strategy: “Ask and Answer Questions” . We will be reading informational texts to go along with this week’s theme “How can people help make your community better?”

New High Frequency Word: “you”

Phonics:blend and segment sounds in CVC words. New sound/spelling: Review

Sound Wall: /or/ as in corn and /kw/ as in queen

Vocabulary: community, improve, harvest, quarrel, confused

Math: Lesson 18` “Understand Subtraction” and continue working on math pathways. Students have time to work on our math power standards at their own pace during math pathways time.
