Week of January 10th-14th

Upcoming Events:

  • Monday, January 18th: Martin Luther King Jr. Day-NO SCHOOL
  • Wednesday/Thursday, February 2nd-3rd: Parent Teacher Conferences. Our PTC schedule in half day kindergarten is slightly different than the rest of the school. Wednesday, February 2nd will be a short day schedule for all Quest students. Thursday, February 3rd half day kindergarten will have NO SCHOOL while all other Quest students will have a short day.   • Friday, February 4th NO SCHOOL for all students.

Weekly Reminders:

  • Tuesday: Library books are due! Please make sure your child’s library book is in their backpack. Our librarian was out today (1/11) so books were not returned. They will keep their books until next week. Send take-home folders to school (yellow for AM and green for PM). Please review contents of folder when returned.
  • Friday: Short day. Students are welcome to show their Quest pride by wearing their school spirit shirts (with uniform pants).
  • Label student belongings. This includes coats, jackets, gloves, water bottles, etc.

Here’s a quick overview of new things we will learn this week:

Big Idea for Unit 5: “What kinds of things can you find growing in nature?”

Comprehension strategy: “Reread” We will read  informational  texts to go along with this week’s theme “How do living things change as they grow?”

New High Frequency Word: “are”

Phonics:blend and segment sounds in CVC words. New sound/spelling: Ee

Vocabulary: develop, amazing, enormous, imagine, content

Math: Lesson 20  “Practice Facts to 5” and continue working on math pathways. Students have time to work on our math power standards at their own pace during math pathways time.
