Reminders:

  • We are learning new power words at a much quicker pace now. They need to be reinforced at home to improve fluency!! Please keep reading decodable stories that are sent home each Tuesday. You can also use a sticky notes and put power words anywhere your student will see and read them often!
  • To find the unit overviews with new power words, sound spellings, and vocabulary click on the wonders tab
  • Your student needs a water bottle daily

Here’s a quick overview of new things we will learn this week:

Big Idea for Unit 7: “What are different kinds of animals?”

Comprehension strategy: “Reread” We will read fictional and informational texts to go along with this week’s theme “How do you take care of different kinds of pets?”

New High Frequency Words: of, they

Phonics: blend and segment sounds in CVC words. New sounds/spellings: Gg, Ww

Vocabulary: train, compared, depend, responsibility, social

Math: Lesson 26  “Understand teen numbers” and continue working on math pathways. Students have time to work on our math power standards at their own pace during math pathways time.
