Our homework is a bit different then usual. We have a book report coming up. At the beginning of the school year I assigned each student a library book that was chosen by me. Students needed to finish reading these books by the end of the week (Oct 5). Most of our class has completed them already. They have been kept on their desks and read during the day or after they are all caught up. They have also been working on the outline in class too. A handful of students haven’t finished their books and/or finished the book report outline. Both finishing the book and finishing the outline need to be done as homework. Outlines are due FRIDAY. I will be turning in their library book Friday morning, so make sure they come back-please.

I have addition copies of this in my classroom or you can print them out at home.

After Friday, student will be creating/finishing a Google Slides book report as homework. These will be due Oct 12. More information regarding the Google Slide Book reports will be sent out next Monday. They will be given a chance to start them this week at school but most kids like to really polish them at home. Google Slides are fun!

***If your student has the book read and the form completed…they may work on their multiplication facts using Reflex (to a green light). Also, have them read for 20 mins. from a book of their choice and work on Prodigy for 10-15 minutes each night.

NEW Scholastic Book orders are due Oct 22. The last one closed today.

Tonight is the Hooper City Safety Fair, I sent another flier home today. It is from 4-7pm at the City Offices. Also, I send home photo envelopes and proofs today. Your student was asked to not put them in their backpacks.

Field trip is this week and we are taking a BUS!
Please drop your student off at school at normal time and pick them up as usual. Send your student in comfortable shoes with a small backpack. They will need a light jacket. It is cooler up there because it is near the mountains and the wind tends to blow all day. No electronic are allowed on the field trip. They may bring a deck of cards or a small book to read along the way. I will take lots of pics of them to share. They don’t need any money to spend while there. They need to pay the field trip fee $5 to the office before THURSDAY.

(Chaperones $3 to attend and no siblings can attend). Remember I can only have the two chaperones attend this field trip.

Don’t forget to pack a sack lunch that doesn’t need to be refrigerated. Additionally, a bottle of water. I like to pack things that can be eaten and thrown away, so I don’t have to pack it afterwards. If you order a sac lunch from the school, I will bring it on the bus for them.

Read 20 minutes-out loud is BEST 😉
Some student will have math packets coming home that didn’t get finished.
Additionally, finish your Google Sliders-Clouds at home. 6 slides/correct spelling/correct info. *Find more info on the net or under our Google Classroom link-electronic book.

**DOLLAR DRESS DOWN DAY Friday, September 28th**bring $1 and wear appropriate clothes that comply with dress code that day.

We are creating terrariums on THURSDAY. I need a few more 2-liter bottles donated for the project. Please rinse them out and sent them with their lids. We are creating them from 2-3. *Some student have out standing math packets that need to be completed. We work on these in the classroom. After a few days, I send them home to be finished up. These need to be completed by Thursday. The students know what is missing and how to finish them.

We are taking our first field trip on September 27th to This is the Place. We are sadly limited on the number of parents we can take on the trip-only 2 for our room. Please indicate on the form if you are interested in attending the field trip. I will have a random drawing and let the two lucky parents know who they are. I will draw the names out on Friday. (Please note: NO SIBLINGS are allowed to attend by request of This is the Place). Don’t worry as I am sure we will have other trips this year for you to attend. 

We are asking for a $5 donation to help cover the cost of the trip for each student. Parents will need to pay for their entrance fees on their own. We will be taking a bus, all chaperones can ride the bus or drive themselves.

Reflex to a green light. Earn the light 4 times throughout the week to enjoy fun Friday. If you don’t get all 4 lights, you will work on them during fun Friday activities.
