Homework 12/4-12/8

We are starting a new chapter in math which covers subtracting two-digit numbers with regrouping.  I will be teaching the students 5 different methods to solve these equations.  I’d like each student to find the method that they enjoy using the best.  I’d also like them to understand the other methods and be able to use them if needed.  I am providing a worksheet this week for homework that includes a work space for each problem.  I’d like your child to practice the different methods at home.  I will post a video each day this week explaining a method  for your child to use as a reference.  The worksheet will fit 4 equations.  Please have your child practice each method at least twice.  You will use the same worksheet.  So if you print up 3 of these worksheets, your child will have room for 12 problems.  That means you have room to work on each of the 5 methods twice, as well as two more of their choice.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or stop in for clarification, I would love to go over it with you!

We finished up our weather unit and will study how Christmas is celebrated in different parts of the world.  We will also go over Kwanzaa and Hanukkah.  If you have any experience or items you would like to share with the class, please email me and we would love to have you come visit us!

We will be working on a fun art project for the next two weeks.  The students will each need to bring in a jar with a tightly fitting lid.  This jar does not need to be new.  You can use an old jam jar or something else that has been cleaned out.  As long as the jar has a tightly fitting lid, it will work for this project.  We will need these by next Monday, December 11th.

Thanks for all you do!  These students are amazing and so are you as parents!  Thanks for all you do for your children!
