Lexile Scores
Parents,
On Monday, SEP forms will be coming home. There will be a lot of information on there such as DIBELS reading scores from the beginning of the year, Math standards mastered so far, and notes at the bottom. The notes at the bottom will include information from both teachers. I will be notifying you of your child’s Lexile score. A Lexile score is a reading level. Once you have this score, you may look for books that will be on your child’s level. The following are options if you need help finding books at the right Lexile for your child.
Lexile Hub
Here you can search by Lexile score, grade, and interest area.
Scholastic
On Scholastic, you can search by grade, age, or genre. When you click on a book, you can see the Lexile score. Our class does book orders through scholastic throughout the year. Look for information on our next Book Order!
Your local library is also a great place to visit and find the perfect book for your child.
Please be advised, your child spends time at school reading on-level text. The most important thing is that your child is reading. We want them to enjoy reading and to understand that reading is a life-long skill. Have them read out-loud to you in the car or while you are getting things done around the house. Ask them about what they are reading. Read with them. Read to them. Open a book and show your child how important this is to you. That is one of the best things you can do for your child.
Thanks for all you do,
Mrs. Zimm
