Service Learning Project: Students work together to help children in Africa have clean drinking water.

Dear Parents,
Thanks so much for you help and support today with our service learning project!!! The kids are really excited to help the kids in Africa get access to clean water to drink. As part of the service project, each day we will present information in an effort to help create a sense of awareness and appreciation. Please visit with your student about what they learned, and if possible, earn some money to help with our efforts to provide the much needed equipment and supplies for clean drinking water. Tomorrow they are encouraged to bring dimes but, pennies and nickels are still very much appreciated.

The children in the picture are eating mashed cassava, a starchy, inexpensive root vegetable that is a good source of nutrients. Because it is very stiff, it is used like a spoon to scope up the greens (similar to spinach) served with the meal.
