I was born and raised in the beautiful Islands of Tonga in the South Pacific. I come from a Tongan mother and a German father. I graduated with honors from Saineha High School on the island of Vava’u, and received a four-year student-work program scholarship to attend Brigham Young University in Hawaii. While earning my degree, I worked at the Polynesian Cultural Center as an instructor and a model. There, I met my prince charming, David Fisher, and we were married in the Portland Oregon Temple in July of 2000. David is an attorney here in Utah. We’ve been married for 11 years and have two wonderful children, Ailine who is 10 years old, and Kawika who is 8 years old. We also have 2 little poodles, Rusty and Missy. I began teaching first grade at Quest Academy Charter Elementary School in 2008. I am very excited about the wonderful year ahead of me, and the great opportunity to teach third grade!
We will be having a classroom auction on Friday, September 26th. Students can bring things from home to use in the auction. They can bring little trinkets and bobbles and doodles that are lying around your house, things that no one wants anymore. Clean out your junk drawer to find lots of treasures! Little things like old toys or stuffed animals are fine too, as well as pencils and school related things. Do not send Pokemon or similar cards because those are only to be allowed at recesses or after school. Please DO NOT BUY ANYTHING to be auctioned. We don’t want you to have to spend a dime. The kids will be “purchasing” the auction items with their “U-Cans” they’ve been earning recently. This will teach them the value of both earning and saving, as well as the art of spending and making a good deal.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND THE ITEMS WITH THEM UNTIL FRIDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 26TH, the day of the auction.
Due to the change in policy for Parent/Teacher conferences at Quest Academy we will not be using the sign up sheets from Back to School night. Those we feel we most need to meet with at this time will receive an invitation to schedule an appointment for the upcoming Thursday, September 25th conference. If you do not receive an invitation to make an appointment, but would still like to meet with us please feel free to let us know via email or text. If there are openings, we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Thank you for sharing your child with us. We truly have a great class and know that together we can help these children be successful.
Today we started our centers. We have 4 different groups. We have Green, Pink, Blue and yellow Group. I had a blast working with each group sorting and even filming our work which I will put on here later. We also did the last part of their Homework for today which is Spelling City. I printed out their Homework form and put it inside their yellow folder. I hope that will make it an easier Monday for you all.
Thank you so very much for signing up to volunteer for our wonderful little children. Please look through the volunteer list and let me know if you need to make a few changes. You can text me at 801-931-9002 or email me. We will start our Volunteer next week Monday: September 15th, 2014 We are all looking forward to working together with you wonderful parents!
Congratulations to these wonderful readers! ( Week of August 25th-Aug 29th). They read their take home books every single day and bring their yellow folder to school signed. Thank you wonderful Parents for all your help at Home.
Hello, there!
A few days ago, we sent home a flier and price list from Old McDonalds Farm. I just wanted to explain that this is a WONDERFUL business owned by some parents of children attending Quest Academy, and they have agreed to donate to 1st Grade and to Quest! We, of course, are very excited about this and very grateful!
Old McDonalds Farm offers great prices on all types of quality cuts of meat, including beef, poultry, and pork.
If you somehow missed the flier, you can contact Matt McDonald for information: 801-941-3456
The Collection Committee has decided to continue giving out the “Free Dress down Day” certificates. The Grade that brings in the most Box Tops, Labels for Education, My Coke Rewards, and Tyson Chicken combined each term will win the “Free Dress Down Day” certificate. Each Grade will have 4 opportunities to win. There is no limit on how many times a grade can win. Example: If Second Grade wins the First Term “Free Dress Down Day” certificate for collecting the most and then in the Second Term they bring the most they will receive the “Free Dress Down Day” certificates for both terms. Four terms, Four “Free Dress Down Day” certificates awarded. Each Grade has a possibility of winning all 4 terms. At the end of the school year the Grade that has brought in the most for the whole year will win a Pizza/Movie party. Parents and Teachers of the winning Grade will receive more information on the reward given.
This is how the terms have been determined:
First Term: Collect from August 14 thru September 19. Final collection for the first tem on September 19. “Free Dress Down Day” certificate to be used from September 22nd to October 24th.
I realize the first day of school was August 14th, but for the “Free Dress Down Day” certificates to follow with the school terms we needed to have the First Term certificates handed out as soon as possible. Students can redeem their “Free Dress Down Day” certificates anytime during the winning grades school term. They must be redeemed before the end of the term. Each certificate will have an expiration date on them and also these certificates cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.
Second Term: Collect from September 22 thru October 24. Final collection for second term on October 24. “Free Dress Down Day” certificate to be used from October 27 to January 16.
Third Term: Collect from October 27 thru January 16. Final collection for third term on January 16. “Free Dress Down Day” certificate to be used from January 19 to March 20.
Fourth Term: Collect from January 19 thru March 20. Final collection for fourth term on March 20. “Free Dress Down Day” certificated to be used from March 23 to May 28
Pizza Party: Collect form March 23 to April 24 FINAL COLLECTION April 24. Party date will be discussed with teachers of winning grade.
As a reminder for those with more than one child attending Quest Academy “please put everything that you have collected into a Ziploc bag and write each of your children’s names and teacher on the front. Everything that is counted in the bag will be put towards each student evenly. Example: If we count 256 total in the bag, each child would get 256 for their grade. This should make it easier on parents so they don’t have to divide up everything among their children.”
As a reminder, tomorrow is a short day and school gets out at 1:00. Please pick up students promptly to allow teachers to start their weekend. It is also a Dollar Dress Down day for those who would like to participate. Students must have a dollar first thing in the morning. Dollars will be collected in the classroom. Canned food will also be accepted in place of a dollar for tomorrow only.
Monday is Labor Day and no school. Tuesday, September 2nd- We are going to the Zoo. Volunteers Please meet in Mrs. Fisher’s room by 8:15 A.M. All students should be at the school by 8:30 A.M.
We have more available spots for our H.O.V. lane if you pick up 4 or more students. Email or talk to Ryan Tippetts if you are interested.
