Skye Boat Song – Choir Club

This post is for choir club!

Here is one of the songs we’re singing. It has some harmonies that we won’t be doing, but I’m posting it so the kids in choir club can get the hang of the tune!

Lyrics:

Speed bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing, Onward! the sailors cry
Carry the lad that’s born to be King over the sea to Skye
Loud the winds howl, loud the waves roar, thunder claps rend the sky
Baffled our foes stand by the shore, follow they will not dare

Speed bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing, Onward! the sailors cry
Carry the lad that’s born to be King over the sea to Skye
Through the waves leap, soft shall ye sleep, ocean’s a royal be
Rocked in the deep, Flora will keep watch by your weary head

Speed bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing, Onward! the sailors cry
Carry the lad that’s born to be King over the sea to Skye
Many’s the lad fought on that day, well the Claymore could wield
When the night came, silently lay, dead on Culloden’s field

Speed bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing, Onward! the sailors cry
Carry the lad that’s born to be King over the sea to Skye

Our Week Rocks!

Parents – we have not one, but TWO parties this week! One is the Valentine’s Day party tomorrow. This will be the very last part of the day. Students are able to bring their own Valentine’s boxes if they wish, otherwise, I will provide a bag form them to collect Valentines in. Please NO FOOD OR CANDY with Valentines!
I’ve been asked to provide a list of students names in my class so students can address Valentines: Aaron, Kaleb, Kamberleigh, Katelynn, Chloe, Jasmine, Claire, James, Blake, Brooke, Ava D., Joshua, Shylynn, Kyler, Kylee, Mylee J., Kimberly, Jaxon, Jace, Ava O., Kenna, Lexi, Kennedee, Gabe, Mylee T., and Chris.

This Friday is also our classroom party that my students have spent months earning! Students shouldn’t bring a lunch that day – we will be having pizza! It is also a pj party and an electronic party. Students can bring electronics AT THEIR OWN RISK. Games MUST be appropriate (rated E).

Last week, we worked on a music video “We Will Rock You”! We don’t take our rock knowledge for granite!

Pizza Permission

Parents,

We will be having a class party on February 16th! My students have worked hard to earn this! We will be doing an electronics/pj/pizza party! Students can bring their electronics to school at their own risk! Games must be school-appropriate. Students can wear pjs to school that day (or if they don’t want to wear pjs, they can just have it as a free dress-down day).
We will be having pizza for lunch – so please don’t have your child bring lunch to school that day. I need ALL parents to sign the permission form HERE. We cannot have a pizza party unless all parents sign this! We will be doing a lesson on fractions with our pizza as well 🙂

Also, here’s our song last week on comparing decimals:

Thank you for everyone who donated supplies to make our Valentine’s! I’ll post pictures on Bloomz when we do them tomorrow!

Valentine’s Day!

Homework is posted for the week! Please be sure to have your child complete the form on Thursday night as well as the Readworks and the Frontrow Ed.

We have the opportunity to provide service in our community.  The 4th grade students at Quest Academy are going to make Valentine’s Card for Lotus Assisted Living Center.  Lotus Park Assisted Living is a assisted living campus, specializing in care for senior adults in West Haven City.  They are partnered with Quest.  They have come to different activities throughout the years, including the Halloween Parade.  We have enjoyed their visits and want to send them cards and Valentine poems.  They are going to LOVE it!  To do this, we need art donations.  Our room needs pink/red/white construction paper/card stock/heart paper.  Any paper would be wonderful! Any Valentine’s day embellishments would be fabulous.   Even fancy scissors to cut cut shapes and such.  Paper doilies are perfect for these too.  The only thing we have so far is plenty of glue!  We plan to work on these on Friday.  Thanks so much!

Our classroom will be having a short Valentine’s Day party at the end of the day on February 14th. Students can bring in Valentine boxes of their own creation if they would like. If not, I will provide them with a bag for them to collect Valentines in. Valentines that are passed out in class need to be food free!

Can’t wait for another great week of learning!
