Homework for January 30th-February 3rd

Announcements:
*I posted last week about our spring Parent/Teacher Conferences we are having on February 21st (Tues.) and February 23rd (Thurs.) from 3:00-7:00 both nights.  Please go back to that post and sign-up for a time that works best for your schedule.  I’m excited to sit down with every student’s parents.

* We are starting division this week, and I am doing a math activity with Skittles early in the week. Please let me know if you do not want your child to eat the Skittles after we complete the division assignment.

*We will be having an Inference Super Bowl Party this Friday, February 3rd.  We will be using a few different commercials from years past.  I will be giving out Doritos, Sprite and Twinkies to go along with the commercials.  Please let me know if you do not want your child to eat these things.

Multiplication Madness: We will be learning our 12’s this week. We will also be reviewing and passing off 0’s, 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s, 6’s, 7’s, 8’s, 9’s, 10’s and 11’s. Please continue to practice and drill these multiplication facts at home. Thanks for all the hard work!

Homework:

Reading
Of course, reading is the most important part of our homework! All of us should be reading 20 minutes a night, 5 nights a week. Please print off the Sort and Reading Log to record how many minutes your child read each night. Please sign and return it on Friday.

Math-We will continue to work on multiplication as well as reviewing area. At the end of the week we will be starting perimeter and area of composite shapes.
Monday-division hmwk 1
Tuesday- division hmwk 2
Wednesday-division hmwk 3
Thursday-division word problems
**Friday-Homework and Sort and Reading Log due!
**Short Day at 1:00 dismissal, but it is NOT a Dress Down Day**

Spelling
This week the students will be reviewing long a vowel sounds.
Please print off this sort: 2-15 2-15 Sheet1
Monday-Indicated Sort
Tuesday-ABC Sort
Wednesday-Sort by the number of letters in each word
Thursday-Speed Sort
The students will use this sort to practice the indicated patterns. Quest has asked us to have the students type their spelling word sort each night, but I would like to keep homework quick and simple. Just have your children sort the words. They do not need to type or write the sort.
