Multiplication Madness!!!

We are hitting multiplication facts really hard in math right now.  Starting Monday, January 28th,  Multiplication Madness will begin!  Please start drilling and multiplying the multiplication facts with your students this week.  The students are expected to drill their math facts at home along with learning strategies at school.  The students have to pass off their 0’s to 10’s for a required grade. Every student will be given 10 problems to pass off in one minute. Multiplication facts are a huge part of the third grade math core curriculum. The students will have to spend time at home working on these facts in order to pass them off in the time table we have set.  The students will have the opportunity to pass off their multiplication facts as many times as they can before the celebration.  We will focus on one fact a week, I will let you know what facts we are working on each week.  Please check the planner tomorrow to make note of the schedule.  Our Multiplication Madness Banana Split Celebration will take place on Thursday, March 28th from 2:00-3:00.

Each part of the Banana Split is one of the multiplication facts that needs to be passed off.  You will get that part of the Banana Split ONLY if you pass off that actual fact.
0’s – Placemat
1’s- Napkin
2’s – Bowl
3’s – Spoon
4’s – Banana
5’s – Scoop of Strawberry Ice Cream
6’s – Scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and caught up on some sleep.  It was hard for me to get back into the swing of things last week.  We will be updating all of our DIBELS mid-year data this week.  Please make sure students are here at school so everyone gets their testing completed.  Also, I will be doing math tutoring after school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with the students not at mastery on addition and subtraction.  I will reach out to you if your child needs to stay with me on those days.

Week of January 2nd-5th

Happy New Year to y’all!!  I can’t believe it is already 2019.  These next 5 months will be super busy and intense, so hold on tight!!  We will be doing all of our Winter DIBELS testing in the next few weeks for mid-year data.  Also, we will be reteaching skills in tutoring next week that have not yet been mastered.  I will be emailing parents to have students stay after school for extra help in math standards.  Please be checking your emails for that information.

**Even though it is a short week, please complete math homework (Reflex) and reading minutes for Wednesday and Thursday night.**

Week of December 10th-14th

Y’all!!! It’s the last Monday of school before Christmas! We only have ONE week until Christmas Break: December 17th- January 1st.  We will come back to school on Tuesday, January 2nd after break.

**Wednesday, December 12th-Pancakes and Pajamas
Students will have pancakes for lunch and can wear PJ’s to school that day.

We will have a Grinch Party on Friday, December 14th.  This is a Dollar Dress Down Day, and we will encourage the students to dress up in their “Grinch Gear”.  We will also do a White Elephant gift exchange on this day.  Please bring a wrapped gift to school on or before this day.  Thanks!

**
Grinch Party help:  We will not need help on the day of the party, but it would be greatly appreciated if any parents are willing to make green sugar popcorn for the party.  Let us know if you can help us with that.

**White Elephant Gifts:  Please do not spend a lot of money on your gift!  Be creative!  Use something around your house, a toy you don’t play with anymore, a Dollar Store gift, etc.  Please bring a gift that the other third grade students would want to steal from the other students.  Let me know if you need me to provide a gift for your child.
