ABOUT ME

Quest Academy is an amazing school and I am so PROUD to be a RAM! I get to watch EDUCATION in ACTION every day as I watch and learn top notch EDUCATORS and 21st CENTURY STUDENTS at work in the classroom.  It’s inspiring to me to see and hear the RESPECT they have for one another, the INNOVATIVE ideas both teachers and students share, and the COLLABORATIVE efforts to ENGINEER everything from great essays to new ideas in TECHNOLOGY!  I am a 1996 Graduate of Weber State University where I developed a love for Literature and English (yes—I LOVE TO READ and WRITE!!!) and was a member of the WSU Chatonelle Dance Team for 4 years on Scholarship.

I feel that Junior High and High School age students are some of the brightest and strongest people on the planet!   I support EDUCATION in all it’s varieties and PROMOTE the growth and development of the newest strategies and technology to benefit our YOUTH! I enjoy being a part of their growth and development.

This is my 4th year at Quest, however,  I have more than 24 years of experience coaching, teaching, and working with some incredible teens in both High School and Jr. High.  I remind my students every day that they are POWERFUL and will be “somebody’s something one day”.  We all depend on them to be POWERFUL!  I feel that at this particular time in history we NEED these BRIGHT MINDS and POWERFUL VOICES to be developed and shared!  They are OUR FUTURE!  Nothing is more rewarding than to watch them learn, and to master a skill that started out as a challenge!  MASTERY is a KEY COMPONENT  to EDUCATION!  Completing assignments and projects is great for PRACTICE, but being truly EDUCATED is being able to perform skills for a LIFETIME!  We want our students to be CONFIDENT; not just on TEST DAY, but EVERY DAY!  I love that QUEST ACADEMY embraces a MINDSET for life long learning and success, not just a GRADE!

I have been married to my husband, Bart, for 25 years and we have 6 children (including our son-in law) that keep us busy!  I love spending time with my family (especially at Bear Lake & Disneyland!)

Our students can’t learn using the same methods we used 20 years ago!  They live in a world that looks much different and it requires much more of them.  PREPARATION is VITAL!  English class is a place where we learn many things, but I love the many “life lessons” that I discover in the pages of books and the wonderful world of words!  I can’t wait to see these students as they become the MASTERS of READING, PROCESSING INFORMATION, WRITING, ARGUING EFFECTIVELY, and PRESENTING in front of others with EASE!  I am COMMITTED to shaping the minds and voices of these 21st Century INNOVATORS and COMMUNICATORS!

I encourage my students daily to
NEVER SETTLE!!!!!
