Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving Break! I know that we are officially inside the most WONDERFUL time of the year. We have 3 weeks of school until Christmas break. Expect homework for the next two weeks to be as usual. Math, Reading, and Word Work Nightly. The last week before break we will switch things up as I know the holidays are a busy, busy, busy time of year.

Today we pre-tested our first division unit and will be working on the concept of division until Christmas break. We also took our first multiplication fluency test. For the next two and half months we will be working on mastering multiplication facts. Tonight I will be posting our multiplication challenge, rules, and goals. Students are trying to earn a Valentines Multiplication Banana Split.

The third graders are very excited about the Multiplication Challenge but  it is going to take some at home work to master and memorize basic multiplication facts. I will be posting links, multiplication cards, and apps that I think can help your student. Please include a daily practice of multiplication facts into your schedule. You would be amazed at how well students do with just a little daily practice.

Thanks For All you Do!

Reading: Continue to work on your reading Bingo! Don’t forget that Reading Bingo Charms can be collected in the Q1 building this week. Log your reading minutes. If you need a new reading Bingo Page here it is ( Reading-Bingo-3rd-Month-1) If you want to learn more about the charms the students can earn check out our Quest Blog here.

Word Work: Complete Monday’s Spelling Homework. Just a reminder that there is point reduction if Homework is not completed in your spelling journal.

Math: Work on Multiplication Fluency. We will be testing 1’s tomorrow. One of my favorite websites for practicing multiplication facts is Math Magician. Check it out here.
