Word Work: This week I introduced the word sort in class and each student created their own answer key. New directions for homework are posted under the Words Their Way.

Math: Complete the worksheet below. Do your best! Show your WORK!! Our Subtraction chapter test is on Wednesday.










It is November and time for Turkey! This Week we will be working on a fun Thanksgiving lesson. Tonight I am sending home a turkey and your job is to disguise the turkey. Details below.

Due Wednesday November 6th. Disguise a Turkey. Wednesday we will start writing a persuasive letter to a chef. We have to convince a Thanksgiving chef that our turkey is not really a turkey. You will use your turkey to add convincing descriptions. You can dress up your turkey anyway you would like with the materials of your choice just make sure you bring him back disguised and cut out.

If you lost your turkey you can print a new one below. Please use card stock.

Happy Monday!

I’m sure that this week is going to be a lot of fun. The Halloween Buzz is in the air. Thursday students will be allowed to wear their costumes to school. At 9:00 we will have a k-6 Halloween Parade. Parents are encouraged to go to the Q2 gym and enjoy the parade. After the parade we will have a class party. If you would like to help please let me know.

Homework this Week… I know with all the excitement the focus on homework is difficult. We will have whole class word list this week that we will work on only at school. NO Word Work this week. I will be assigning math and reading homework Monday and Tuesday night. No homework Wednesday, or Thursday. I encourage you to read!!

Math: Complete the online self check quiz. Remember to email me after you click “check it”. khutchinson@questac.org

I can’t believe tomorrow is Friday! This week has went by so fast. There are a lot of little notes coming home right now about fun Halloween activities. Please be sure to check your little Halloween Monster’s back pack. One of the fliers has information about Quest Academy’s free family skate night, Friday November 1st. Hopefully, I can make it because it sounds like lots of fun.

Quest Technology Fundraiser. Check out the link for information about Quest’s technology fundraiser. This looks like a great opportunity to update your family picture, help out Quest, and take care of  Christmas for the grandparents. I have even talked my hubby into having our pictures done.

Halloween  is right around the corner. Next Thursday will be all kinds of fun in our school and classroom. Most of our class has earned their Halloween party and the few left are getting closer everyday. We are going to have a lot of FUN!! I’m still looking for a couple of volunteers to help with all the madness. If you are feeling up to a screaming good time please let me know. 🙂

Homework Tonight:
One small note about homework. Please, please, please let me know if you and your child are having a hard time completing assignments. Homework should not take more than 30 minutes and should not be a battle of frustration. Students should be practicing skills not learning the skill. If you are having one of those nights please email me. I promise it helps me to better understand what I need to cover in class.
