This week is flying… We have been busy, busy, busy. I hope everyone had a chance to check out the pictures from yesterday’s activity. You all did an amazing job thinking and building.

Lots of excitement as we begin writing today. This year we are going to be writing and writing and writing. We will tell stories, write reports, and share our experiences. I can’t wait to read your writing!

Tonights Homework:

Reading: Read for 12 minutes tonight and don’t forget to log your minutes. Mike and Sully have moved to the sidebar so log your minutes there.

Word Work (Spelling): Spelling Tic-Tac-Toe. Choose a Tuesday night activity. Remember to complete the activity in your spelling journal and bring it to school tomorrow.

Today we started our Addition Chapter. Below is a parent letter to let you know what we are doing in math and ways you can help your child.

Homework tonight: Read for 15 minutes and log minutes. Click on Mike and Sully to log your minutes.


Signature: Please sign your students chapter test results.

Spelling: Spelling homework begins tonight. Please click on the link under Homework (underneath the banner) that says Monday Sorts. Directions for tonight’s homework are there.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Post your questions under comments. I will be monitoring frequently.

With the addition of spelling homework, I imagine, the time to complete homework will increase. I will keep the math homework light this week. However, next week you can expect to see math homework increase. Homework should take about 30 minutes to complete. This 30 minutes does not include reading. Please click on Homework for an explanation of homework guidelines.

That being said I don’t believe that homework should become a nightly battle with your child or that it should take longer than the 30 minutes. If you find it taking longer than 30 minutes please let me know as soon as possible and we will make adjustments.
