Change of Date for the Third Grade Party!

We had to change our 3rd Grade Party to next Tuesday, May 26th.  POQA will be feeding the students pizza for lunch, so your children do not need to bring lunch that day.  We will also be having some activities that day and watch a movie together as a grade.  Students need to bring their tie dye shirts with them on this day.  They will get to wear them over uniforms during the 3rd grade games.

Field Trip Info for Tomorrow!

Just a few reminders for tomorrow:
1-First of all, each student will be coming home with their tie dye t-shirts tonight.  The students need to wear them with jeans tomorrow (Dress Down).  I have a few of the students shirts that I am re-dyeing.  I will bring them tomorrow so they can wear them.  
2-Every child needs to be at the Roy Front Runner station no later than 8:15 am.
3-Each child needs to bring a backpack with their lunch and a water bottle.  A jacket might be a good thing to wear as well.  They will be carrying their own things for the entire day.  There is no option to by food at the aquarium.
4 – Please remember that no younger siblings are allowed.  You will need to find other arrangements  for your younger children. 
**Please make sure all students go to the bathroom before they get to the Front Runner Station.  The train is not equipped to handle over 100 students going to the bathroom.

DON’T FORGET THAT YOU WILL PICK YOUR CHILD UP FROM THE FRONT RUNNER AT 3:45 PM!!  Yes, 3:45 PM!! This is not a typo 🙂

Homework for the week of May 18th!!

Announcements:

  • Our play is this week!!! Dress Rehearsal is Tuesday at 9:00; The real thing is Wednesday at 2:15. Play costumes need to be at school on Monday!  If you cannot attend the play on Wednesday, you are more than welcome to join us for our Dress Rehearsal on Tuesday morning. 
  • Our field trip is Friday!!  I still have a few students who have not paid.  Please pay by Monday!!
  • The tie-dye shirts are done!! I will send them home on Thursday so students can wear them on the field trip on Friday!
  • All homework needs to be handed in by Friday, the 22nd!  All the final grades will be entered in by Sunday.
  • A huge THANK YOU to all the parents who came out and helped students paint our backdrop for the play and who helped us tie dye our T-shirts.  The students had a blast doing both!

Students are required to read 20 minutes a day. Please record reading time on the attached document or on the Google document. It needs to be up to date every Friday. Reading Log

Urgent Play Time Change Notice!!

Parents and Students,
This is to let you know that our play time has changed.  We will be doing our play at 2:00 on Wednesday, the 20th, instead of at 9:00 am.  I am sorry for the short notice.  but there was a last minute conflict with our time.   Because of the time change, students will need to wear their school uniforms that day, and then we will change into costumes right before the play.  The students have been working really hard.  I am looking forward to seeing all of the costumes come in on Monday. Students will be bringing home invitations tomorrow to invite you to see them.  Please look for this in their backpacks.  Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.

Homework for the Week of May 11th!

We are winding down our school year, but we are still learning lots of new things!  These next few weeks are very important that your child is here, on time, everyday.  We continue with SAGE testing on Tuesday and Thursday.  Please make sure that your child gets to bed early and has a good breakfast. 
Please note that our last library day in on Tuesday.  All books must be handed in that day!

Play Costumes!!

Dear Parents and Students,
Our play will be on Wednesday, May 20th, at 9:00 am in the Q1 gym.   Each child is responsible for their own costumes.  Below I have posted some ideas that I have found that would be simple to do.  These are just ideas, feel free to get creative.  Please make sure that costumes are hands free.  We have actions that go along with our songs and students need to move their bodies and hands.  Costumes need to be at school on Monday, the 18th.  We will be having a dress rehearsal on Tuesday, the 19th, at 9:00 am in the Q1 gym.  Please feel free to come to the dress rehearsal if you cannot attend the performance the next day.  If you have any questions for concerns, please feel free to email me. 

Zoo Keeper – A safari hat would be great.   A work belt that could hold a flashlight or a set of key would also work. 
Elephant – A pair of headband elephant ears would work great.
Beetle – The same idea could work for you with a headband.


Macaws, Alligators, Leopard Geckos, Mushrooms, Polar Bears, and  King Snake – This would work with creating a simple hat to look like your animal.  You could also create a mask! There are many ideas on Pinterest that I have found.

Grass – You could take a green or tan visor or hat and then attach a grass skirt around the edge. This would have the grass hanging all around you.  I also saw a small, round wreath form that you could use instead of visor or hat.   

Star Fish and Cacti – You could create your costumes using foam board.

Field Trip planned for May 22nd!!

We are so excited to announce our last 3rd grade field trip to the Living Planet Aquarium on Friday, May 22nd.  Please read and print off the permission slip.  Then sign and return with your child by Monday, May 4th.  Please check the drop off and pick up times very carefully.  They are different than the usual times.
