2019-2020 Class Supply List

This year in 5th Grade, we are going to have community classroom supplies. Students will have access to all classroom supplies when they are needed throughout the school day.

Life can be very busy, so I am giving parents the option to make a $15.00 cash donation to the class, and I will purchase all needed supplies on the list. All cash donations will be paid to the Q1 Office. There will be a few exception items, and parents will need to purchase these items on their own.

If you choose to bring the classroom supplies, they can be dropped off at Back to School Night, or on the first day of school. Please note, these are the only supplies allowed; anything else will be sent home.

Thank You!!

I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart!! This year I had such an incredible class (it definitely has been my most favorite class I have taught thus far). The Fifth Graders this year are amazing, and I am sad to see you go. Thank you for being so amazing during my pregnancy, and then for Mrs. Sumner and Mrs. Blakely when I was on maternity leave. It was a lot of fun seeing you all two different times, and I know William had a lot of fun as well!

I hope everyone has an amazing summer vacation. Have fun! Stay safe! Read lots!

Maturation Materials

Parents,

Due to recent changes in legislation and policy, Quest has opted to provide parents an opportunity to access maturation resources electronically. Feel free to take some time to watch the below video with your son or daughter and respond to any questions they may have. These videos are the same as those which have been used in past years. Please note that the first link will direct you to the boys maturation video and the second link to the girls video. We hope that providing these materials electronically will allow you to access them at your convenience and support positive communications about maturation between you and your child.

Wow! As I am writing this blog post, I cannot believe how quickly the school year has gone this year. Mrs. Anderson has announced that the last week for library will be the week of May 6th through May 10th. All library books need to be returned by Friday, May 10th.

This has been a fabulous year, and I hope that everyone has found some new books and genres that they find interesting to read.

Optional Dollar Dress Down Day!!

download (1)

We are so excited to announce that this Friday we will be having an optional dress down day.

This is a very special dress down day for Mrs. McBride. The money from this dress down will go directly to a project that Mrs. McBride and her son are working on. In July, they will be going to Fiji on a service trip to help families in the village of Narikoso. This village was directly hit by Cyclone Winston and is still recovering over two years later.

They will be helping in rebuilding structures as well as helping the villagers with business development, personal hygiene, sustainability, and English lessons. If you would like to donate money you can bring money for the dress down day this Friday. Thank you so much for your help and support for this exciting project.

Permission Required: Sub Zero This Week!

images

On April 24th, Sub Zero will be coming and presenting to the entire 5th Grade.  They will be showing Physical and Chemical change in matter.  They will be doing this by using ingredients to make ice cream and then spaying it with liquid nitrogen.  Students will be allowed to select the ingredients they would like to have their own ice cream made.

Click on the following link to view the Sub Zero Menu.  We cannot guarantee that all ingredients will be brought to the school.  Each student who would like ice cream will need to pay $3.00 to the front office, prior to this activity. All students will be able to experience the presentation, but we will only allow students who have payed to eat the ice cream.

Please give permission below.

Update: WHOlives Service Learning Week

download (2)

Thank you for everyone who donated to our WHOlives Service Learning Week. The school raised over $6000, and our class alone raised over $202.00!! Our class took 5th place overall in raising funds for our school. Yay! Go us!! You guys are AWESOME!!

The school raised enough money to purchase a well for children who desperately need clean drinking water. This makes my heart so happy! Thank you to EVERYONE who donated to such a worthy cause.
