Optional Review for 10/28-10/31
**Please let me stress that this is optional practice for your student, not required. We do ask for students to read 20+ minutes every day to develop their love for reading.
Although we have optional review, we very seriously encourage you reading with your children, reading to your children, and reading as a family. We have learned that the public library has a wonderful app to access amazing books online called Libby. You can access the app information at this link: Libby Link By using your public library account, your students can log in and choose from thousands of books online for free to read to you, you to read to them, your family to read together, etc. Audio books followed along also are a great source to develop this love for reading with your child as they follow along in the book.

Reading 20 minutes per day. No need to submit minutes, but we strongly encourage you to make reading a priority. Reading comprehension strategy: Help your child read a story and then retell the events from the story in the correct order while they are focusing on the characters, setting, and events. As well as, making and confirming predictions.

Baggy Books are coming home
Baggy Books are coming home. If you requested one and you do not see one please let me know. In the baggy you will see a purple note that is yours to keep This is just to explain the program. There is also a sheet where you list the book titles so that they get credit for passing them off. PLEASE make sure that you sign them off. You do not have to return the books every day. We will try and get books out at least 3 times a week, but be patient as it may take some time to get them switched out. There are all levels of books so all students can participate. Thank you for helping your student with reading.

Raz-kids at home access
If you would like to access RAZ kids at home (a fun online reading program that allows them to read leveled books with rewards and quizzes) please click on the link below and follow the instructions. You will need to make sure that you spell my name correctly because it is sensitive to errors and will result in your child not being able to find their profile.
****This is an optional resource!*****
Here are the steps:
1. Click here to get to the website: RAZ-kids
2. Click on the green sign that says kids login
3. Enter my teacher login as: lgieseke
4. Once the class comes up have your child find their number (if they don’t remember their number then email me and I will email it to you)
4. Help your child select the correct image for the password (if they do not remember then email me and I will email you that as well)
5. Go to the reading room and enjoy books in this order Listen, read, take a quiz and gain stars for rewards. Then your student may spend those in the star zone. We use this site at school as well so they have a good start on their avatar and space ship.
Enjoy this great resource.
