These are the high frequency words, vocabulary, phonics as well as other essential Language Arts skill we will be working on this week :

**Please let me stress that this is optional practice for your student, not required.  We do ask for students to read 20+ minutes every day to develop their love for reading, increase fluency, vocabulary, and spelling .  

Although we have optional reviews, we  STRONGLY encourage your children to read. Reading with and too your children, and reading as a family has shown to increase student vocabulary, spelling and fluency.  We have learned that the public library has a wonderful app to access amazing books online called Libby.
You can access the app information at this link:  Libby Link   By using your public library account, your students can log in and choose from thousands of books online for free to read to you, you to read to them, your family to read together, etc.  Audio books followed along also are a great source to develop this love for reading with your child as they follow along in the book.  
Optional Math Practice: 

• The family letter below provides review in math that you can do with your student.  Please read the letter and invite your child to share what they know about the concept by doing the activity together.

THE LITTLE CAESARS FUNDRAISER HAS BEEN EXTENDED.  ORDERS ARE NOW DUE BY FEBRUARY 28TH.  STUDENTS CAN EARN A SQUISHY FOR EVERY 3 CARDS SOLD. IF NEEDED, YOU CAN PRINT THE ORDER FORM BELOW. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT. 

1- FRIDAY:  Early out 1:00 pm
Students are welcome to wear a Quest Spirit shirt with uniform pants or traditional uniforms.

2- Valentine Day Friday, February 14th: Students are welcome to make a Valentine’s Day box or they can use a heart bag that I have here in the classroom.  We have have 24 students in our class. To make things easy, just have your student write FROM:________ (their name). As per Quest wellness policy, please don’t send  your student with food to hand out.

4- Valentine’s Day party: We will be partying it up from 11:30-12:50. Our class will rotate to Mrs. Teichert’s class at approximately 12:10. We will be making Valentine’s Day cookies and reading a story along with a craft or two, and of course playing a game if we have time.  

PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU CAN VOLUNTEER TO HELP ON VALENTINE’S DAY.

I have noticed that a lot of students have come in coughing and with runny noses.  It is cold outside and I think that makes it hard, but it is also the height of flu season so please remind your students of good hand washing and the right way to blow their noses.  We are disinfecting desk surfaces and have hand sanitizer out all over the classroom and encourage everyone to use that in addition to good hand washing.  I have also noticed several students have come in really tired.  The clock will be moving forward soon for the time change, and this is a good time to get our students a little extra sleep to prepare them for that in addition to helping their immune systems.  They are so precious we want to do all we can.  Thank you for your support.

Library Monday

We will have a Valentine Party next Friday.  Please have your student bring Valentine’s if they would like to for all 24 students in the class addressed to FRIEND or MY PAL and then signed with their name in the from spot.  This way they can put any card in anyone’s box.  We will have a sugar cookie for each student and frosting.  We will also have a craft during the party.  If you would like to come and help on Friday from 11:30 to 12:50 please email me.  We will be doing half the time in my classroom and half the time in Mrs. Teichert’s classroom.  Students will need a box or bag for cards and treats.  Thank you.
