If your student is not going to be attending days during the last week of school or not coming back after yearbook day, please let me know so I can coordinate when to send home their desk things!

The last week of school is all short days!
Thursday May 22nd – T will now be T is for Talent. We talked about it today and they are welcome to perform a quick talent for the class.
Friday May 23rd – Yearbook Day!
Monday May 26th – No school for Memorial Day!
Tuesday May 27th – Camp in the classroom!
Wednesday May 28th – Field Day (9:45-10:45)
Thursday May 29th – Elementary Talent Show
Friday May 30th – Last Day of School

If you have any grocery sacks you are looking to get rid of, I would love to take them off your hands as we start cleaning out our desks!

Tomorrow is J is for Jump Rope Day. If you have a jump rope, please send it with your student for them to use at recess.

Here is our ABC Countdown schedule! This will be coming home today. Days Y and Z will both be on May 30th.

The Week of May 5th

This week we will be going over:
ELA: Theme – I can read a story and identify the theme.
Math: Line Plots – I can measure objects and create a line plot based on the data.
Phonics: Stable Syllables (-le, -el, -al)- I can read and identify words with stable syllables.
Sight Words: 6.3 – You can create flashcards, have your students use them in a story, or use them in sentences.

What is coming home this week?
There is a new reading and sight words tracker coming home. It is on a light green paper. Please ensure your child is reading and practicing their sight words!

Reminders:
– Our library day is on Mondays- please make sure your student’s library book comes back with them after the weekend. Please bring them back tomorrow if your child forgot them today.

The Week of April 21st

For the next few weeks we are trying to make learning about the different syllable types fun! For the whole second grade we are going to identify different types of candy that have that type of syllable. (For example: Mike and Ikes has the vowel consonant e – CVCe type). This week we will be going over:
ELA: Summarizing – I can read and summarize a story.
Math: Partitioning Rectangles – I can partition rectangles into equal parts.
– Arrays – I can create arrays.
Phonics: Open and Closed Syllables – I can read and identify words with open and closed syllables.
Sight Words: 6.1 – You can create flashcards, have your students use them in a story, or use them in sentences.

What is coming home this week?
There is a new reading and sight words tracker coming home. It is on a light pink paper. Please ensure your child is reading and practicing their sight words!

There is also a new separate tracker on bright pink cardstock to use from 4/14-4/28 to encourage your students to read everyday until End of Year testing in 15 days! This is separate than the weekly one. If your student reads one day that week you get to put in on both trackers!

Phonics: Compound Words – I can read and spell compound words.
Sight Words: Review 5.1-5.5 – You can create flashcards, have your students use them in a story, or use them in sentences.

What is coming home this week?
There is a new reading and sight words tracker coming home. It is on a light yellow paper. Please ensure your child is reading and practicing their sight words!

There is also a new separate tracker on bright pink cardstock to use from 4/14-4/28 to encourage your students to read everyday until End of Year testing in 15 days! This is separate than the weekly one. If your student reads one day that week you get to put in on both trackers!

– Our field trip is TOMORROW! Please send your student in a red uniform shirt and uniform pants! If they are bringing any hats, sunscreen, jackets, etc. ensure they are able to keep track of their items by sending them in a draw string backpack or other small backpack. They will be in charge of their items at the zoo.

Kids Read Now

April 11, 2025

Quest has a program for K-3 students called Kids Read Now. This program allows your child to choose 4 books to be sent to your house this summer! Get on and choose quick as there are limited quantities per book!

Baby Goats!
