We have been working on two digit addition and subtraction during math. I am sending this page home over fall break to help them not forget what we’re working on! Students who bring this back after fall break can earn extra class money!

This week we will be going over:
ELA: Ask and Answer Questions – I can ask and answer questions to find the main idea and key details.
Math: Addition with 2-digit numbers – I can fluently add 2-digit numbers within 100 using different strategies. Subtraction with 2-digit numbers – I can fluently subtract 2-digit numbers within 100 using different strategies.
Phonics: Short o and Long o – I can read words with short o and long u sounds in them (o, o_e, oa, ow).
Sight Words: We are on week 2.1. You may make flashcards of the sight words and have your student read and spell each word.

What is coming home this week?
There is a new reading and sight words tracker coming home. It is on a light yellow. Please ensure your child is reading and practicing their sight words!

There is a wonders reading companion book coming home today, that can stay home. We are starting a new unit that requires a new book.

There is also a book fair booklet coming home. This tells you what days the book fair will be and gives you an idea of what books you will see there.

Costume guidelines:

Costumes should be modest and without blood or gore. Students are welcome to paint their faces and wear Halloween masks, but masks will only be worn when directed to do so by the classroom teacher (e.g. during the parade, when a class picture is taken, etc). No one should enter the school wearing a mask. Weapons and anything that depicts violence are not allowed on school property (knives, guns, swords, spears, scythes, etc.). If you have questions about costume accessories, please contact us. Just to reiterate, no blood or gore is allowed, either depicted on the costume or in makeup.

Halloween Party:

Our class halloween party will be on the 31st from 12pm to 1pm. If you have already filled out the volunteer form I will be contacting you about being able to volunteer.

Please read with them for 20 minutes and practice sight words three times, 5 days this week. If they bring it back filled out and signed by you next Monday, they are eligible to receive class money.
