2nd Grade
As I was visiting 2nd grade, I noticed some fun stuff that I wanted to share!
Positive Reward System: When the students have good behavior, they get a hole punch in a card at the end of the day. When they fill up the hole punch card, they get to use the Ipad to take a picture of the SURPRISE QR code of their choice. Each code tells them a surprise job they get to do that week: Get the teacher’s mail, water the plants etc. They love it. Taking the picture and seeing their surprise job. What another great way to use QR CODES in the classroom!!!
5 steps closer to my fluency goals:
Since our 2nd grades are focusing on reading fluency and math fluency a lot this year. This class is encouraging them to get faster by weekly readings and math fact quizzes. Each time they improve by 5 (the magic number) or more, they get to put their name on a foot and the teacher puts it up on the wall. Blue is math and red is reading. They are doing awesome, and love to see how much they improve by or need to. 🙂

Trick or Reading
It’s that time of year again…the fourth graders put on their reading and creativity skills to bring you Trick or Reading! After all the craziness of Halloween, our students finished their week by walking through the Fourth Grade classrooms to see their pumpkin book reports!
If you aren’t sure what Trick or Reading is: The Fourth Graders choose a book to read during the month of October. They then create a poster using the story elements of the book, and decorate a pumpkin as one of the main characters, as a visual. 🙂 We set them up throughout our classrooms and have people walk through to look at the reports and have the students briefly explain their book.
Way to go 4th Grade! What a fabulous way for us to end the week!

Takin’ a trip to the Apple Store
I was very excited to go on this field trip! It was the first one of it’s kind-4th Grade went down to learn Garage Band!
Garage Band is a program that we are lucky enough to have at Quest since we are a dual platform school!
The students will be creating their own songs, including instruments of their choice and maybe even some lyrics if they want! They can do all of this in our Mac Lab or our Mac Laptops!

This app is a class favorite! Check out Language Adventures from Lakeshore Learning at the App Store! It’s a great purchase for your class or for review at home!

Testimonials
We are running out of time to earn money for those iPads that our teachers really want! Please make sure you call Toni J. and turn in your tickets with the $25 donation (session fee) by NOVEMBER 7th at the latest!
The pictures are AMAZING! I have our family portrait hanging in my living room and I always have people tell me what a beautiful portrait it is. The poses for our pictures look so natural too. Not stiff and uncomfortable like many family pictures have the tendency to look. The photographers were easy and fun to work with and made the process enjoyable. I have already signed up again this year! Truly, the portraits from Tony J. are a family treasure.
My family signed up to do portraits with Quest picture night last year. We wanted to support the school and figured we would get a nice picture to use for Christmas cards instead of just taking a snapshot ourselves. I expected the experience to be similar to past photo nights, a quick pose, one photo taken, and out the door hoping the picture would turn out. It was nothing like that. Someone made sure we all looked great, we had multiple photos in various poses taken to ensure we caught the best picture of our family. Toni was amazing to work with and was so cute with our family. We walked away having a very positive experience and received so many comments from friends and family on how beautiful our Christmas cards were! We are excited to have Toni take our family pictures again this year!!

The pictures Tony J. took of our family last year are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! We were excited to hear that Tony J. was coming back to Quest. Not only are we getting pictures taken again, but some of our extended family loved our pictures so much they are getting theirs done too.
